Hi,
i decided to make an extra thread on this out of my general crying-on-how-bad-my-TvZ-is-thread (http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=333203).
I heard/read that its a usual practice to scout zerg's gas timings as they can hide tech buildings but im not sure what to get out of this.
* It was mentioned that FE followed up with late 4 gas is a good indicator for baneling/(roach)/ling all-in * early gas on natural is an indicator for a muta heavy style. * ...
What else? Which info leads to which conclusions? |

Gas timings really aren't indicative of a whole lot in TvZ. Sure, if he gets a lot of gas he will probably build more things that cost gas, but you can't really derive anything else from that. Late gas might also be a quick third or w/e. First off I don't think you really need to scout Zerg until your hellions are out, if you want to feel safe get a marauder and a bunker and you're well off vs almost anyting he can throw at you. Also always make a depot wall. Secondly, if you really want to scout for an all in try to sneak in an SCV at the time the roach warren would go down and then you know for certain. If you control watch towers and leave a marine out front your base you'll have more time to react as well.
If you really want to get better, check this out http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=284255 http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=328028
Lower level players always fall into the trap of scouting even if they don't know why they doing it. |

| gas timings are incredibly important because gas is used to do anything that is unrelated to hatcheries, slowlings, and queens and sunkens. note that none of these things can launch meaningful direct attacks against you at the relevant timings. |

| you don't need 4 gas to do a roach/ling/bane all-in you can do that off of 1 gas. and it hits at like 8:00 7:00 without banes. |

| I agree that this is more of a simple questions/answers thing. The threads decaf suggested are also excellent reading for a question like this. |
