I want to test what would happen, if protoss shields on units started with 1 armor. It would change everything, without changing anything. (That makes sense)Last edit: 2012-05-09 12:01:57 |

As if early game protoss isn't hard enough to kill already lol/
Anyway, I am wondering when the hell will these changes take place. They said sometime this week, but there was nothing after the maintenance update

Perhaps they are waiting until after the GS: semifinals? |

http://us.battle.net/sc2/en/blog/5393885/Balance_Update_-_51012-5_9_2012#blog
You might have been part of helping us test the new balance changes coming to StarCraft II, and these most recent adjustments will be coming to the game very soon. What’s different is that, for the first time ever, they won’t be applied as part of a patch. On May 10, after a brief maintenance period in each region, the following balance changes will take effect globally: Protoss
Observer build time decreased from 40 to 30 seconds
Zerg
Overlord movement speed increased from 0.4687 to 0.586 Queen anti-ground weapon attack range increased from 3 to 5
Again, to be clear, these changes will take effect after a short maintenance in each region is complete, and neither a patch nor any other special action will be required to experience them in-game. Thank you for your feedback, and see you on the ladder.
So they can make these changes without releasing a new patch? Weird. |

As someone who uses a reaper expand at a highish masters level this queen change pisses me off. Idk if it's maybe needed ZvP but its a horrible solution to early game TvZ problems. You should be able to kite with hellions/marines/reapers against queens. They have a shit ton of health and with decent ling support you will never kill one unless the zerg player makes a mistake.
It's taking away a very important timing (and one of the few in the game) where you can get a really good advantage if you can micro your early hellions/reapers/marines well while macroing behind it.
Zergs will now be able to take a very fast 3rd base behind queens and creep spread and be safe from most if not all early pressure builds. That's stupid.
Combined with the fact that unless you're constantly scanning you will have no idea if the zerg is power droning or massing ling/roach with that 3rd base things are gonna get really ugly for Terran real fast. Also considering the current map pool (large maps with easy thirds) any zerg who does get out early creep spread is gonna be super safe.
The only consistent viable opening to deny the third is now going to be a banshee, most likely with cloak. I hate being forced into that. It's super vulnerable to any early roach/ling/bling pressure.
Seriously. This is stupid, this kills most early game options. What are they thinking? |

Don't you think you are overreacting a little? The risk-reward ratio for some kinds of early aggression/harass are too much in favor of the terran, imo. I would really like to see a statistic on how many of the TvZs ending within the (lets say) first 10 minutes are won by the terran.Last edit: 2012-05-10 13:56:49 |

Overreaction. I can understand the reaper build being more obsolete, so I'll give you that, but Queen's ground range was never an issue when dealing with early hellion/marine pressure. Sure, the queen will get a few more pokes in, but the main DPS came from lings while the Queen's tanked damage as you say. |
