It just recently did this. As soon as I turn it on I go from 120+ fps, to 10. I don't even have to turn on my stream, just opening it causes it to drop.
Any ideas?

correct. Remember they are still working out bugs even though its official.
You can use FME as an alternative, with VHScrCapLast edit: 2012-05-06 10:14:14 |

You can use VHScrCap or Dxtory in XSplit, too. I prefer FMLE, personally, but XSplit's a lot more user-friendly.
I would recommend Dxtory, though, it really helps with framerate. Even if you have a beastly rig, running XSplit's capture hurts your game FPS, and doesn't get as good of an output video. Definitely worth the $50 if you stream a lot, and if you don't want to pay, you can... circumvent the cost. |

| Same thing happened to HasHe. He has a 3930k and a GTX 680 and his fps doesn got above 40 anymore even though he used to stream 1080p and have over 100 fps while playing with a 2600k and a GTX 460. He even dropped all settings to low and switched to 720p. Last edit: 2012-05-06 10:59:23 |

Why would you switch to 720? With a high end CPU (overclocked 2500/2600k, ivy bridge equivelants) and ESPECIALLY with a beast like the 3930k the performance hit will come very close to entirely from the capturing, and regardless of encode/broadcast resolution you will have to capture your 1920x1080 source.
edit: Idle on daybreak at 0:00 puts me at 315-320fps, loading xsplit and enabling screen capture puts me at ~230fps (gamesource in the low 100's, so i dont use it) but actuly starting to encode stream or local record doesnt actuly affect my framerate or performance at all. 1080p30 or 240p24 @superfast, no difference in performance, only on CPU load, which is irrelevant if you are not in threat of having any cores maxed out with the encoding load you setLast edit: 2012-05-06 16:55:29 |

Demuslim had the same problem on stream some while ago, some said it was a known problem with the newest Xsplit version. Another thing, I know its a long shot, but you could try to disable hyper threading. |

Hey Minigun, Have you updated any of your drivers or Windows recently? The only explanation I can give is that something changed in either settings or drivers. I know ATI recently released a new driver for their graphics cards, but for now I'm just offering advice based on the info you gave in the OP. We have not changed anything in XSplit v. 1.0 since release, and there's no connection at our end when capturing only, that can explain the drop in performance. Assuming you are using Screen Regions, make sure you do not have Aero enabled. Do you see the drop while in SC2 menu too (to rule out map related issues)?
If everyone in this thread with this issue would do me a favor, please state your graphics card and driver version. Thanks.Last edit: 2012-05-07 11:00:35 |

| PLEASE REALIZE all of you "X-split fans" or who don't want to change. Using DXTORY still means your using X-Split. If you don't want the problems the only fix is to write the capture program yourself or to use another capture program... |

Why are you so intent on promoting DXTory anyway? You made your point multiple times - it's a cool and good tool, but not always the best option. Just like GameSource

I beg to differ - It works just fine for the majority of our users. DXTory also has issues on some configurations - generally speaking it's just not a "plug'n'play for everything" type of task we are asking of the computers. Millions of permutations due to hardware and drivers will cause these issues.Last edit: 2012-05-09 12:59:50 |

I appreciate your concerns;however, I would like to point out the irrelevance.
1. I was listing dxtory to metaphorically represent other screen capture programs since I was to lazy to look up other names.
2. I said that if you don't want the problems the only fix is to write the program yourself or use another. I said nothing about it not working for the majority of users, I also said nothing about the ease of it's configuration compared to X-split. Then you go off ranting about permutations of which the program processes which has to do with nothing I said. |

why keep persisting when they already expressed that they do not wish to use an alternative screen capturing program?
The thing about dxtory is they don't show what you are viewing when alt+tabbed. Maybe the streamers want to see that. IDK but they said they wish to just use Xsplit and everything it comes with it. They do not want some other software running in the background to screen capture. |

You are saying that no matter what, the problem cannot be fixed while using XSplit. You know this how? I can say for a fact that sometimes it's settings related, and sometimes it can be solved with either updating drivers.
On May 05 2012 15:14 Fallen903 wrote: X-splits encoders are fine but the screen capturing mechanism isn't completely compatible with all video cards thus causing an issue[...]
How does this differ from what I said about permutations? I can find multiple cases with people using the same card and same driver but has different stream performance
@Minigun If you're still around, I'd like to offer to help you. Write me a PM to get my Skype.Last edit: 2012-05-11 00:02:53 |

video card / drivers are implied
Also your stop mentioning all of the other users and different problems and fixes for other people. The whole time I havn't been talking about other people, other problems,
I said the fix at the very beginning, the screen capture program. Simply run X-Split without having it streaming and just with the capture off and see what happens /thread as I said earlier.
The only reason why people were disagreeing is because they were X-Split fans. For the argument that they didn't want to use another program, makes me wonder if they even tested the process difference. Not to mention that they would still using X-Split, people are defending it like a loved one, when all it is ... is a tool. |

Actually, no. I run Xsplit with Dxtory to capture, and i began having this same exact problem Minigun describes, after the most recent xsplit update.
