In my opinion this site / community really needs a forum section (like arenajunkies for WoW), where only grandmaster / maybe highest master players could post but everyone could read to learn. As you all know battle.net forums is pretty much completely unreadable and most elitist gold/platiniums have already found their way to teamliquid with attitude of "i know everything about this game but im only platinum becouse of my game mechanics so im allowed to tell people what they should do and flame them"
This section would be used by high rated players to discuss strategies and class mechanics and they could share their opinions and what is working for them. All content would be available for everyone to read and learn from the higher rated and more experienced players.
What do you think about this idea? Would you actually read these forums to learn? I know i would for sure, would make finding contet that actually works much easier to find
Inb4 "14 posts lol", i have my reasons to not be active in these forums. Last edit: 2012-05-12 21:24:23 |

you have 13 posts actually
the strategy forum already has this where people who you should listen to have their posts highlighted in blue.
but you should listen to everyone with a valuable opinion anyway, It's easy to tell who doesn't know what they are talking about without knowing their ladder rank.Last edit: 2012-05-12 21:21:01 |

Does ladder ranking really means something? Remember that guy that got to grandmaster 6 pooling.. The idea is rather good but I'd prefer known pros than just high ranked ladder players. But then I guess they wouldn't like to discuss strategy publicly. What could be interesting would be an option which allows to see only posts from trusted posters (the blue ones), as there is quite a few in the strategy forum but having to search through all the pages to find them is too long |

IMO some of the posts from masters players are just as whiny and balance flame fest as those from bronze/silver/gold/plat/diamond players. sometimes even more so because they consider themselves "highest level" so they know better then everyone.
btw GM as it stands now is simply acknowledgement that you won the ranking race at the beginning of a season.
though would be best to hear the thoughts of a mod on this issue |

arena junkies in wow is a huge failure and highlights the exact problem for what you want to see here. being good at a game doesnt mean you are a smart person, copying someones builds and having solid mechanics doesnt mean your insight deserves any more weight to it.
its also a logical fallacy to look at a persons name than their post to decide if its good or not, and would discourage quality content because your name is all that would matter.
also this should be in website feedbackLast edit: 2012-05-12 21:17:55 |

A rank doesn't determine how well you know the game. But it is true the higher the rank the more you know about a game, since you've played more and learned new things.
If there would be a section where pro's could discus things openly and we could read and learn, but other it won't really matter and there is no purpose. |

Now this I like, as a protoss player I have come to really appreciate the efforts of the highlighted posters and would love to be able to find them super-easily. |

This was discussed to death some time ago. Team Liquid eventually went with the blue highlights for certain posters.
While I disagree with the (fallacious) appeal to authority, their solution is a good compromise. You can pay more attention to those people, or you can choose not to.
Anyway, a forum where only grandmasters could post would be a pretty empty forum. |

| yeah, would be nice if TL actually creates a thread where only people who acutally understand the game can post, and the rest of the community can just read that, i like that idea A LOT !!! Last edit: 2012-05-12 21:21:46 |

As a quick note on this, it might be a logical fallacy but a lot of lower-level players aren't capable of determining the worth of a post on its content alone, so some kind of "seal of approval" sort of concept is really useful.
*Should clarify that my personal opinion is that the highlighted posters are enough, but would like to be able to filter their responses for when I don't have time to read entire threads*Last edit: 2012-05-12 21:24:13 |

Honestly, I think such a thing would promote a sense of elitism that wouldn't be productive towards the aim of building a single community. It would create a perceptible split, and almost promote a "real TL" and "the trash who can't make it that high".
I can see your reasoning, but I'm against it for that reason. |

| Would be too hard to implement. Most players who are gm are not very good at the game and those that are good at the game don't always ladder. Then you have the top top players who dont really post on forums and discuss things via other top players. |

| I would love this. There's way too many people who value their opinion too much in the current strategy forum. There's so much we could learn from a high level only forum. Like GM and some good strategy forum regulars only. |

| I like your idea, OP, but using Arenajunkies as an example? The last thing Team Liquid needs is to be even remotely similar to that site. |

| Why would you post a thread about anything when you can use voice communication or just talk about it on battle.net. If you want to display your strat... there is a forum for it. |

| This idea has come up multiple times... it's generally been shot down or, perhaps hypothetically, done in a super secret manner Progamers lounge that's invisible to anyone but them. |

why would progamers discuss strategy in a public place?
Also this idea has been suggested about 500 times already. |
