I found this question on Stackexchange and as the site does not encourage votes or suggestions I thought we could find a name here.
It might be a non issue, but it is still good to have a solid terminology for Starcraft 2. The most important issue is what the popular caster think about this. Would they accept and use such a therm?
What do you think? Do we need a collective name? What name would you suggest? Are there any other buildings that require a generic name?
My suggestion is: Tier 1 Upgrade Building (TUB). Used like: MarineKing started his tubs about 1 minute before Hero, this will give him an opportunity for a good timing push later on.

Or we might just call things with their name?

Appreciate the effort, but not really necessary imo.

Most casts are already striving toward the lowest common denominator, and take the time to explain upgrades and everything else they can fit in. There is no reason or need for a unified term for it. Especially...TUB.When I hear TUB i think of some guy walking along, up to another guy, like, "Whats up tub!?" and then Evilteletubby lops their head off.
Any other term would be just as hated though. There is no need for that kind of stuff.

I guess there is no value in new therms that no one will use. It would be like Husky's "Destiny Cloudfist Build" which is actually the 111 build.

Well what a load of really insightful and helpful posts in response to the OP. Surely if you say 'no' then you must have a reason - why don't you be good enough to share this with your community?
My answer, is indeed no, because this is really a non-issue. I appreciate your reasoning OP however I think that overall this is a reductive approach to the game and oversimplifies it (and not to mention being incredibly pedantic): simply referring to the individual building by its actual name is fine, viewers (should) know what it is, and casters can say what it is doing.

I see no reason to change the name of the upgrade facilities in particular. We still call the tier one army buildings different things (Barracks, Gateway, Spawning Pool/Roach Warren/Banelings Nest). Should we change them too? Should we give the same name to Starport/Stargate/Spire? I think not...
