So, it seems that my Hotmail account has been "blocked" for some reason. I have an option to send a code to my other e-mail to recover my account (this specific e-mail address is the only option). However, this e-mail (another Hotmail account) is some very old account and I don't remember the password - or the answer to the secret question.
So my main Hotmail account is blocked, and the other account where I'm supposed to send the recovery code is unaccessible aswell. I spent some time browsing the site for help but only found some answers to common problems and some message boards - which I can't use because my account is blocked. I feel stupid for using Hotmail even though I have a Gmail account aswell...but all my important e-mail comes to my hotmail account. 
I tried to find a way to contact someone who could help me but didn't find anything helpful. What should I do?

I think the only option for you right now is to try and get into that old account... and start using KeePass or 1Password in case this happens in the future.

| Yeah this happened to a friend of mine. Iirc he contacted hotmail and they unblocked it, but they could not restore his old mails. Dunno if its the exact same thing but could always try mailing their support... |

I think my hotmail got locked at some point, I just had to reinstate it by having them send a code to my cellphone.
Either way, I use it for junk stuff only (which is probably why it got blocked). |

Chances are, your account got phished (you clicked a bad link from an e-mail someone sent you, and your account got hi-jacked). What happens then, is that your hotmail account sends out a ton of spam to all your contact list (eg. subject: imsohornyforuritenow, and the body is a link to the same "virus"). Hotmail automatically shuts down any account that does this.
You will have to contact hotmail support (find it on the link below) and ask them to remove the block. They say they do not offer phone support for live services, but if you call a random number, they might forward to someone who can help you. They will ask you a series of questions (name, location, timezone, regular contacts, last person who emailed you that you remember on what date, birthday, etc) to ensure that it is you. As long as you didn't type random stuff on it, you should be fine. They're generally lenient in the questioning

| i have the same problem, my account was working well yesterday but this morning it has been blocke already and for the same reason mentioned above. they tried to send a verification code to an old email that is no longer existing and there is no way to change it. im so depressed as all of my important emails are there. ive tried to look for solutions, read about threads about this problem but nothing helped me. |
