Wow. Are you getting a partial refund for the tuition or are they extending your semester ? I'm assuming this is college / university, of course.

And in part to make people think about the protesters as dumbfuck hippies that will destroy property.

these event seem more to me like chances for the police to practice thier tactics. I imagine this will probably be like the G20 that happened in Toronto a couple of years ago. Police just randomly encircle blocks not letting protestors or regular civilians out, hold them in for hours the slowly close in and throw them all in some holding location offsite for a couple hours or days.

a movie was put together by a few of the protestors and their video's showing what the police do at these things, very interesting:

I would expect much of the same Chicago, best just to completely avoid the whole thing really.

Those that destroy property at G8 protests are police infiltrators that give the riot police the excuse they need to beat up the real protestors and clean the streets. It may very well be possible that those black bloc anarchists are 100% police. When police infiltrators start throwing the first stone or they start trashing up some car, people will join in because of mob mentality.

There are many videos of this on youtube. It seems that top officials in the police and politicians are very good in completely chaning the mentality of the average police grunt that at one point thought he would join the police to 'serve society'. Now the police in general attracts people who just like to beat up others but do it legally. But I still believe most people join the police with commendable motivations. Yet they are turned into thugs quite easily. OWS, Greece, G20, G8, NATO, list goes on.
Best cases are actually from Latin America.

There are accounts of older females who went shopping and got caught off guard by such a protest, because they never knew that one was happening, drop their shopping bags and joining the mob vs the police because they felt threatened and because of animal instincts.

Tibune's got some pictures of the mess caused by the protests in Chicago:

And this is probably only round one. As the NATO leaders arrive and the protests get bigger this is only going to get bigger.

I always find this funny. How do people honestly believe that there are "police infiltrators" that start all the bad stuff. lol

I hate this shit. I just moved to Chicago to work for ford, and I live like a half hour south of all of this garbage. Yet, there are still police checkpoints on my way to work. I hate the NWO and all of the bullshit that ensues.

It's not like it happen all the time or for a long period of time. You should be happy that you're living in a city with such importance. Give and take, what's the point of having nice venue if it's not gonna be used.

I find it hilarious that NATO is going on during the Chicago Sox vs Cubs series at Wrigley Field. With many of the main ways to reach Wrigley Field being under extra security or completely shutdown, it makes for a very difficult commute to the baseball game.

Come to think of it, I wonder what it does for the various businesses in town to have a few thousand demonstrators show up. All of them have to eat and sleep, after all.

The MLB does plan these games out month's in advance. So its hardly their fault.

i live in chicago and the NATO thing is TERRIBLE. my buddy and i were just eating in downtown on friday (before the NATO conference even started). when were finished our meal and went outside we saw like 300 people walking straight down Jackson street. There were like 500 police accompanying them, on bikes and in riot gear. It was pretty intense and kinda fun, my buddy and I joined in just for the hell of it.

then when the protestors came to their destination there was an entire surround on the group with police on bikes on one side, and riot gears on the other.

Because first we had only rumours and some vage reports from non-mainstream journalists but today everyone has a moible phone is it was recorded several times. You can find it on youtube. Also, police admits they have people dressed as anarchists and faced hidden among protestors. And those are often the ones that throw the first stones. In several cases they had been identified as cops, forced out of the crowd and they joined their uniformed police colleagues.

The question is not that there are police infiltrators. The question is noit that there are many police infinltrators. They admit this. The question is how many black bloc people are not police.

Also this tactic is older than Sun Tzu. So it's not strange that it is used either. Classic use of spies.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/politics/2009/may/10/g20-policing-agent-provacateurs

This has been a decade old tactic by the police in countries like Greece, Chili, and other countries that see a lot of left wing or labour movement protests. Then they began using it at G8/G20 and also this NATO and Occupy demonstrations. It is a common tactic now among western police forces when it used to be something exclusive to the fake democracy countries.

It's the police that break open the pavement and smash apart the rocks so they can be thrown. It's the police that place police cars to be burned by their agent provocateurs for a nice media shoot. It is the police that start smashing windows of shops.

Lol, you obviously don't know much about Chicago.

For one thing, no one is lucky to live on the south side of Chicago.
