| Lol, absolutely no way - I am confident in my own ability to make 1 million without a direct 1% increase in expected mortality. |

it would have to be a bit more than one million (actually a lot more ie one billion) and only then id do it at 1%/99%
edit: tried the random number generator and got 100 on about my tenth try, so :/Last edit: 2012-05-16 13:54:25 |

| Gues people just found out about a thing callied russian roulette. It aways comes down to cost benefit. Certain times the 1-99 would seems like madness and other times the 50-50 would seem like a good idea. |

| Nope. A million isn't even that much money these days. Definitely not worth my life. One billion and I'd do it. |

| Personally, i would probably do it for way less than 1 million at 99% and I wouldn't be scared to go for a million at 90% either. |

| I'd do it at 99-1 but also 99-1 chance. Kinda a win win situation. I can't be sad that I'm dead if I am. |

Ironically if you are in the 99% you become the 1% zing!
I wouldn't do it. 1% chance of death is really high. Most people wouldn't have a surgery with a mortality rate over 1% if it is elective, I don't see how this is very different. 1 million gets blown pretty quick. |

| Simple Answer no. But if i didn't have a family and it was just me and it would effect anyone else then sure why not. But a million isn't worth it to put family through it. |

| If I got the money whether I lived or not then yes I would do it, but even 1 to 100 odds of death or money isn't worth it. Somethings gotta support my family. Last edit: 2012-05-16 14:26:23 |

| I am amazed that there are so many people here thinking 1 million dollars is something easy to achieve. Unless you are a banker, 1 million dollars is not something you will see until you are in your 40s (and that is assuming that you are one of those graduates who are in the frontline to receive the jobs at the top-tier firms a graduate can expect to get, and don't raise kids). Considering the death is painless and instant, considering its flat out 1mil, i'd do it for 1-99. I don't think id do it for 2-98 though. Lowest amount I'd do the 1-99 would probably be 500k. I dunno if repeats were an option, but I wouldn't repeat ever. Not sure what the price would be for me to go to 2-98. I would never do anything more than 3-97, even if however much money I ever wanted was on the table.
I fucking hate gambling, but at the same time I recognize good odds when I see them. Considering my own financial situation (which is far from amazing), that's what it would take for me to do that "gamble." Obviously all those numbers change drastically considering financial situation, but that's what it is for me in my current situation.
If the death was long and painful, I don't think I'd take the gamble ever. |
