| lol.. well, yeah.. Bandits prey heavily upon Chern and Elektro. I'm almost never along the southern coast for precisely that reason... that is until I get a DMR to go with my NVGs then I'll do some bandit extermination. |

Honestly, it seems like 80-90% of the people in game just want to team up and not kill each other. That number fluctuates at any given moment though given the situation. I've been killed because I surprised a survivor and he didn't have time to think.. just shot. Basically, you need to remove any element of surprise so people have time to think and feel safe (same goes for yourself). You may get burned here and there, but for the most part, you'll gain many trusted travelling companions. Just think about what you said, and then realize that it applies to most of the population.. they feel the same way.
Seems a bit high... in practice it has been about 70% helpful, 30% trying to kill me. Helpful is being pretty broad though, some of these guys have dragged hordes down on me when I thought I was pretty safe. I was happily looting some stuff when I notice there's a guy right next to me and a zombie comes up to me probably because of him, so I shoot the zombie. Entire area was clear before he shows up, next thing I know like 20-30 zombies show up from the direction this dude came from. Not cool. |

lol.. isn't this game so unique and amazing? Be sure to try different servers. I'm definitely seeing people get in some servers but not others. |

zombies poking through walls every now and then is the worse... I can only imagine how much more incredibly epic this game would be once all the bugs are fixed and everything is more stable. |

Playing this at day and at night is like two different games.
At night, flares bring a whole new element in finding people (you see a flare far away.... is the guy still there? is he gonna shoot you if you go? and so on) |

I'm kind of confused as to how logging out works. I'm tempted by this but I'm realistically never going to be able to play for more than like 1-2 hours at a time. Is it even remotely worth it?
And what about bugs and server crashes? Does your loot survive/transfer from server to server?
Like, @dude-who's-apparently-some-total-spec-ops-badass: aren't you worried you'll... I don't know... have this happen:

| If you die to a bug somewhere.. you should be able to run back and get your gear. It's when someone kills you that you can be sure there's no chance. Also, you can read up on most of the bugs and know how to avoid most such deaths. You learn at the beginning by dying such ways and eventually they get fixed or you know what not to do. |

| Yeah, you lose all your stuff when you die. Your loot transfers from server to server, there's a data server that transmits that information. I don't think things like vehicles transfer though. Only 1-2 hours at a time... would be tricky to get much accomplished in that time frame, especially when you're new and have no idea what you're doing. |

I could probably take a solid session on a random saturday every so often to get myself up to speed. It's more about whether I'd even be able to find enough food/water/whatever in an hour to survive till my next logon, let alone get ahead.
Does environmental stuff like dropped loot eventually disappear? Does it go through the data server? Like, complicated scenario, let's say I find some NVGs as a total noob, and die to a bug/zombie in some remote place, and then the server crashes or I can't reconnect. Am I doomed, or can I join a different server and run like hell to where I died?
What if I find them, decide I'm not worthy of them right now, and hide them in a random bush in the middle of nowhere. Could I come back in like three weeks and get them? (assuming nobody stumbled upon them, obviously). Because that would be awesome. Last edit: 2012-05-21 10:46:32 |

| Loot that isn't in someone's inventory is tied to the local server (not the global one). The same goes for vehicles, tents, etc. I have no idea how long stuff persists for, but I have dropped stuff for 30 minutes or so and came back to get it. The game would be littered with stuff if it persisted forever... it doesn't. However, that's what tents are for. You can store stuff in it and it'll hold it until you die, after which the tent has 2 days until it poofs. Also, anyone can take from your tent, so you have to hide it well in some remote location. |

| Also, that's sort of the problem I'm running into right now. I need a new tent to store these NVGs in during the day. Death during the day is a real possibility for anyone, and I can't risk running around with them then. I'm only playing at night until I find a tent to store them in during the day. :D Last edit: 2012-05-21 10:51:28 |

Finding food and drink isn't too terribly hard, but can be tempermental. I find I get ahead most the more time I dump into the game, because you never really know when you're going to hit pay dirt and when you're going to struggle to find anything. I think you could get pretty good at finding stuff in an hour or two, but it would be pretty brutal when you first start playing. It has taken me about 10-12 hours to get to the point where I don't die in the first 30 minutes every single time. If that had been broken up over 5-6 weeks, I don't know if I would have gotten anywhere at all. Although I started screwing around by myself without any help, so your mileage may vary.
Also, the map is really freaking huge. I think I only traversed like 3/4ths the coast line in a 4-5 hours play session. I was stopping very frequently searching for loot, but that gives you an idea of how massive a map we're talking about. |
