Nah, you can log in to amazon and download from anywhere, you get a games library on amazon. Worked fine for me (from sweden), though the download was quite slow.

I would but if I use Amazon I'll be saving $15

And thank you Wettis! How long did it take you to download?

Anyone want to group up at 5 pst?

I had such an amazing kit an alice back a lever action a g17 map compass watch tons of food and water and a tent and then I fell and got hurt in an industrial area so I went into a building thinking I was safe if I locked the doors but like 20 zombies came in and I eventually died... So frustrating starting off again with just a shitty makarov... i have no idea where to go when I spawn I can never seem to find weapons or ammo

You can download it as many times you want, you get the installers off of your Amazon account and theyre there forever, the product keys are also stored on your amazon account. It says something like "Unlimited installs on all PCs you own" or something, its a good system and there is nothing really to worry about, very fast DL speeds too...

Killed two friendies today. First time a guy snuck up on me while I was scoping out cherno and deciding the best way in. I turned round, say a guy doing something (turned out he was saluting) shat a brick and shot him in the face before I realised.
After that I got such a buzz that when I found a dead body underneath a crane I pretended it was me in chat and asked for someone to give me morphine after falling from a ladder (hurr hurr). Someone replied they were on their way, and I warned them that the direction from the city had too many zombies to get through. He said don't worry, I'm coming from x direction. People really need to learn trust in this game, he gave handed me his blood pack and ammo on a plate.

Not sure whether I'll continue the bandit way or not, currently holed up in cherno with a sniper rifle baiting people out. :D

For anyone frustrated with the game, stick at it and use the maps and guides that I sent to the OP, you'll quickly get the hang of it after dying a few times. Treat it like a stealth game, rather than a zombie killing RPG

This game is PvEvP really. I don't plan on being a bandit (at least not at first), but I can see how people get fun out of it, much like Piracy in Eve. If it's in the game's rule set, then it's fair game. May not be pleasant, but still fair.

It seems like the brutality and bitterness of betrayal are part of what makes the game enjoyable. I almost wish I didn't have so many other good games waiting around to be played, I would pick this up because it sounds really fun.
Had you ever considered that all this is your fault? Your presence creates these animals...

Oh, don't get me wrong.... I love that aspect of the game. I just don't have the ability to kill survivors with good intentions without it weighing heavily on my mind.

If any of you playing have noticed, there is a lot of team killing. Sure, if you are nice all the time you will get impromptu friends. However, there are really good reasons for killing anyone you see.
1. Loot.
The primary motivation for exploring and risking your hide fighting in this game is grabbing loot. Even players on the coast give you a decent stash of supplies. With very little effort compared to risking getting swarmed by zombies in a town.
2. Prisoners Dillema.
On the coast its almost advisable to shoot anyone on sight if they are in firing range of you. The coast line is where a lot of pvp happens, and if you don't shoot first, you have a chance of getting shot yourself. Avoid people like the plague. If someone surprises you in close quarters, its advisable to shoot first.

In real life you'd see more cooperation unlike this game. In the game buddying up is a liability more often then not. Can't tell you how many times I teamed up with someone who unleashed the horde on me by incompetence. There is also no moral problems with killing anyone in a video game.

Good hunting!

yeah.. I realize there's a good segment that have no qualms with killing anyone. I've learned that lesson. I guess that's the key.. people seeing this as purely another CoD or whatever, making it easy to kill. I expect that on the southern coast and only go there at night because of that. Anyway, I'm loving this game. I highly enjoy the fact that there are people who will kill anyone.. it makes the game much more enjoyable and intense. As someone that is highly geared and knowledgable of the map, I love nothing more than seeing people and asking if anyone is at such and such a place.

Two days ago I was at the NW airfield at night. I was preparing to loot the northern barracks when I saw someone prone in the field just east of it. He didn't have NV or any light source active. I asked "is anyone at the NW airfield?".. no response. I ask again "are there any friendlies at NW airfield? please let me know now or I'll shoot anyone I see". This person starts moving, obviously hearing what I said and choosing not to respond. By chance, I also knew who he was as he chased me away from the airfield earlier during the day... except the night is my territory. Anyway, 3 silent shots to the head and he was gone. Just to talk shit afterwards, I announced to the server that I now own the NW airfield and don't come unless you want to die. His clan had 3-4 on the server and the message was meant for them. After I said that, I proceeded east to berezino... :D

Exactly... that's why I have to kill these bandits with their eff'd up mentalities. They are incapable of rational thought and must die. :D

Well, I just had my first real run in the game. About two and a half hours worth. Only 45 zombie kills and 0 survivor kills and nothing terribly eventful happened. I kept to myself for the most part and dodged zombies rather than fighting or aggroing them whenever possible (it's amazing how near you can get to them without them noticing you).

My only real contact with another human was while I was picking up stuff in a small farm near Pavlovo. I heard some shots fired and cautiously investigated. Turned out this one guy had aggroed about 8 zombies and had been dragging them all my way, and was no doubt going to alert all the other zombies I had carefully stealthed past getting into the buildings. Nevertheless, I had a Winchester loaded with slugs, plus there was a scoped hunting rifle on the ground nearby with a fair amount of ammo, so it wasn't completely out of the question to help this poor fool out. After dropping all of the zombies and expending all my slugs (it's a surprisingly quiet weapon, btw, definitely preferable to the bolt-action hunting rifle, IMO), I finally made it over to his location, only for him to die right as I ran up to him to try to bandage him up.

I wondered at myself, a bit, for my hesitation in helping him out. The thought that ran through my mind first was, "do I really want someone who thinks that, while being chased by a pack of zombies, charging into even more of them is a viable means of escape, following me around?", rather than simply helping him out immediately. Would he have died anyway from his injuries, regardless of how quickly I came to his aid? Would his survival have only led to my subsequent death too? Would he have killed me after to loot my stuff?

I guess this game hardens you up quite quickly. At least I avenged his death and didn't let him get eaten.

edit -Right now my character, I assume, is sleeping in a barn in relative safety. I'm hoping I didn't lose all my progress logging off. You do have to 'abort' the mission to log off correctly right?

The CZ hunting rifle should only really be used for player killing, as it's WAY too loud to actually fight zombies with.

The guy was probably as new as you were.. did you feel bad or did you quickly rationalize it? The game is much more fun with a buddy, so be sure to partner with someone friendly that you find :D
