Just killed a guy at the top of the industrial complex in cherno. He had basically everything, apart from NVG's. Problem was he had a buddy on the upper level and I could see his shadow above the ladder waiting for me to come up. Looted the guy, took his M4 CCO and got the hell out of there and logged out. Log back in, and I'm under the ladder unconscious and can see the shadow of the guy above me.
Felt entitled to ALT F4 and try another server later, that shits so unfair. Almost had a heart attack killing the guy in the complex, such an adrenaline rush!

I nearly bought a new computer lastnight because my wifes laptop is too low fps to play. We finally met up lastnight by following some powerlines. Only got killed twice on the beach from some dumb ass bean hunters to start with.

Yeah. I've got friends who have alt-f4'd a few times just to avoid an engagement that they *might* not want to get in. It's like they're playing DayZ like a loot collecting simulator instead of an actually fun game.
...actually, now that I think about it, that explains a lot of the games they've been playing recently.

Yeah but I think I killed one of the server admin's/clan members. Since when I logged back into a different server later in the day I was unconscious for at least 4 minutes, with no blood loss, shock, broken bones or anything wrong at all. I've heard of admin's with access to the console can do stuff like this, on one of the OCUK servers (DE4) they would detect heli crash sites and lock the server when it spawned and only they could get the loot. I think its OK to ALT-F4 when you get knocked unconscious by someone using the console code just so they can safely come down the ladder to shoot you in the head and collect their friends gear.

That seems kind of like something a server admin wouldn't do for the sake of "reality". Man... a heli site that you know where it is cheating too.
I guess people play games for different reasons. I personally love how real the game feels. I'm ACTUALLY scared to go into towns or run actoss fields or stay near roads.
The emotions of hatred that I feel when I never even see the murderer and all I hear are a couple "blam blam" and I'm dead. It's good beacause it feels real.
If you just quit when things get hairy and then jump to a different plane of existance you're playing some weird Dr. Who version of the game.
It's not what I would do but it may be fun to have all the coolest things rather than the scraps that I can find.

I love how you can go from nothing to everything to nothing again in the space of 20 minutes.
I was at Starry (as usual) looting the tents, when I heard footsteps. I simply proned in the back of a tent and waited with my AK74U for around 5 min while the guy looted to his hearts content, then finally made his way over to my tent to meet his end. This guy had everything I need: compass, M24, alice pack, blood bags... So I loot and step outside. Then bam, sniper shot right through the eyes. Back to the coast it is then.

That happens when you log out in some sort of situation that you shouldn't... ie zombie aggro, panicking, etc.
Also, admins can't touch you except for kicking. Anything else is hacking, not administrating.
This mod got me really interested week ago when I saw thread about it @ Reddit, I watched some streams and read few topics (including this one) and I will buy the game for sure, probably even donate to mod creator (if there is donation system) when I get some cash in next couple of days. Got few questions if I may:
1) My PC is pretty old-ish. WinXP SP3, GeForce 9800 GT, Q6600 2.40GHz Quad CPU, 3.25GB of RAM... will I be able to play DayZ mod? Anyone plays on similar setup?
2) As I sad, I watched some Streams and I couldn't figure it out how party system works in this game. It seems there are no in-game maps and party UI. How do you find people, let's say from TL, and party with them?

1. I think someone on teamspeak, might have been folca, mentioned that they play with a 9800.
2. There is no party system. At any point, someone in your party could start shooting you. This actually happened to us last night. We were being shot by some really stealthy guy and two guys in our squad had a miscommunication. This lead them to shoot each other and one being killed.
The only effective way to communicate with your allies is using teamspeak, so you should hop on teamliquid's TS3 server and find our channel,

1. Yeah it was me, i had a Q6600 and a 9600GT and running it on the lowest setting. Fine FPS, but i am realizing that this computer is slowly going out of date.. haha so basically you can play a little better than me since urs is 9800
2. When you get on teamspeak, ask about the many stories about what happened BECAUSE there is no party system. funniest stuff happens these days with just teamspeak and no other help interface in DayZ
