That is far too little damage reduction and hp. As for above post, generally all true, though life on hit isn't all that necessary, reflect damage can be handled in other ways - if you can successfully kite it's irrelevant because you can heal, and if you can't you're not killing the mobs anyway. High res is also useful but not at the expense of life, pretty much nothing besides unique bosses hits through my forcearmor. I'd say 40k is a good amount of hp to aim for since that means 50k~ hits are completely covered.

Completely gear dependant, but don't expect to survive the green balls that explode without pretty sick gear. I have 71% armor, 62% resist all and 45k hp and I still get one shot by that shit(barely, I live about half the time). I calculated that it does roughly 350k+- 20k damage though. Well, that's a good tip, but really not what I was asking for lol. Anyway, are there any tricks to avoid them? A place to be? If anyone ever managed not to get 1 one hitted by it I'd like to know. If it needs a huge amount of hp then I guess I'll have to try another hundred times xD
Dude. Pretty much when he does the hand in ground thing you have to start from the side and go to the middle or start from the middle and go to the side. You don't just make a run for it, like you would think. Rather, you patiently wait until he makes an orb under you and then you walk out of it. Rinse and repeat. I always end up reviving people on Belail because I never die when he does that. |

| You need more hp then 20k basically, then with diamond skin you are fine, I am not sure what hand attack you are talking about but I think almost everything on Belial in his ''true form'' is dodgeable. |

One is a smash at one point of the map, the other is a sequence of three hits, the first is usually aimed towards you, the next is about 1/4 of the circle to the bottom(though that might be mostly because i tend to evade towards bottom), then followed by an overhead smash onto the exact same spot. If you can distinguish the two sequences, that means you have a save window to stand and cast one the three hit sequence is under way. And it is very possible to dodge everything he does with 12% movement speed. Though i would advice on having teleport for bad situations/safety when you mess up. And teleport is pretty useful in p1 too, so i don't see why you wouldn't have it. |

This. A good way to deal with his smashes is when you see the green indicator, run counter-clockwise (down). If you see a green indicator towards where you are running, immediately run clockwise (or teleport) and then spam attacks. He will always do the overhead smash between the two spots, so you have a window of time where you are 100% safe. |

no you're having about 1.49 multiplier then.
7 slots to get that is awful as 3 slots with increased attack speed would give about the same.
Crit builds so far seem to suck hard for wizards as there is no reliable way besides items to increase crit chance/ crit damage. Frost nova is the only spell that modifies it and hitting 5 targets is far from a given.
Slow weapon with some increased attack speed is definately best for getting good damage and a good attack speed.
Exception is a arcane dynamo build where you might want to get a 1 hander for even faster attacks.

Venom Hydra / Diamond Skin / Teleport / FA / MM Seeker and Orb Tap the source
So basicly I die 20% of the times in phase 1 and 60% of the times in phase 2. And Ive been doing a couple of hell runs to see if I could avoid P3 attacks, but I'm having trouble. Thats why Teleport. Passives: Flux, Glass canon, Astral Presence
I figured, as long as I make it to P3 it doesnt matter I dont migitate alot of dmg, since belial 1 hits everything anyway.
Im on 30k damage (this without magic weapon/familiar) heavily stacked up on attackspeed (got 1274 2h with .9 speed but running around with 1.5 attack speed because of my itemization)
And also on movement speed. 24% speed increase. Obv this comes at a price, only having 25k HP and low res.
Again, I dont see the point in stacking survivability since I make it to P3 every now and then and it wont help me there in any way.. Teleport I got for P3/P2 survivability, but could be exchanged for MW

Ok so I noticed, I was doing these like -30 tries without rune on my diamond skin.. wtf. Got him to 25% on this try. I survived 1 smash around 50ish % hp using DS! Lol. World of difference.
Next try got him to 50% again.
Diamond skin rune makes me survive 1 belial P3 smash and tank 1 or 2 more hits from his minions. Lol now the fight seems doable. Can't believe I screwed up on that rune for so long.Last edit: 2012-05-27 20:56:30 |

I'm surprised Diamond skin makes a difference, you should be oneshotted with it on... Really, if you get to phase 3 on belial, that should be a kill. Everything is dodgable and he opens himself to attacks constantly (and venom hydra obvious does insane damage). Just learn how he bashes with his hands (was covered earlier) and you'll love when he does it because he opens himself and should never hit you. During his massive AOE, just stay calm and run small distances, using teleport if you're stuck. |

Have you tried using blizzard instead of the orb? It gives control over zones in phase 2 so you can survive it more reliably plus, it's another source of damage that works while you move so phase 3 becomes shorter. And I think you should try shock pulse with the piercing orb rune as your signature spell, it's incredibly helpful in phase 1 and 2 and I think it will make you more likely to survive them. I also think that diamond skin is unecessary because it only absorbs one hit, I would take frost nova instead because frost nova on it's own can get you out of a many tricky situations that, with your build, would usually require more than one cooldown. In phase 3, don't be greedy with your teleport when belial is smashing the ground. |

There is one type of smash that does not do as much damage as all the others, and you can survive it. Though that should only be relevant in the rarest of cases. Don't rely on that, though, i think 2 or 3 of the 4 types of smashes still kill you.
I can only tell you how i did it, and my way seems to be superior. I posted it earlier in this thread. And i would say if you die 80% of the times in the first two phases, that is what you should concentrate on since it severely limits you p3 time. What was the revelation to me was a MI/Teleport/Illusionist/DS combination with hydra/Celestial orb combination combined with enough survivability to survive 3 hits in p1/2. This made me come into the last phase consistently (and more importantly fastly), which then finally resulted in a kill once i didn't screw up something. And i have no idea why you would use seeker missile in this fight. The fight is in a completely small secluded place. |

getting to P3 about 60% of the times now, dying maybe 10% in P1 and P2 with good teleport/DS micro. Just died on 15% in his aoe streak - I got stuck between patches and teleported and got stuck in the gate or something. Raaage  |
