Well, I had a quite weird game yesterday. I was playing this extremely laggy guy who was better than me and I was loosing the game. Since his lag was also destroying my game I got a bit annoyed. During the game he kept dropping in and out all the time, but was never really at zero time. So in the end when I had no choice but to GG since my micro completely failed, I thought maybe I can lag him to death. So I just took all my units and put them on patrol and started spamming keys random actions, and it worked. He lagged out and I dropped him and won.
So was this just fluke, or have others done this?
We all know the annoying factor of getting stuck in a game with a laggy person that starts lagging after a while, but is fine in the beginning. If we don't want to just give people wins because they have laggy internet, and rather punnish lag with losses, maybe this can be a way out of the trap.
What do you do in this situation and have you purposefully lagged someone to death? |

| In my experience spamming chat can help with lagging an opponent to death, as can saving the game. |

I'm sure there is hack for this.
I've seen multiple players lagging me - almost - to death when they see they're gonna lose.
Last time it happened was a PvT and I dealth huge damage with a 2 bases 10 gates all-in and he started to insult me, then the game suddenly became ridiculously choppy, like less than a tenth of the normal speed. Because contrary to your situation I was winning, there was no way I could leave, but I couldn't really alt tab and watch a movie either, because he still had a base and could kill me if I stopped playing.
The 45 seconds countdown never appeared. So frustrating T_T |

let him know what happened in a diplomatic way, and tell him if he wants he can take points for the game.
Its clearly unfair if your opponent is winning and you lag him to death no? would you be happy if the same situation happened just in reverse positions  ?
Usually if it will lag in mid game, (not intentionally) it will lag in the early game. If it does in the very early game you have the option of quitting while the game can end in a draw. If you don' t then imo you agree to play with a certain amount of lag.
and if HE lags you intentionally, then kindly ask him to stop it, if he continues then complain on iccup take your game and never play him again. |

| its not difficult to lag a game to death you just have to upload any files on a ftp for an exemple, it max out the upload rate and then your game is in slow motion. |

Because it works more than 80% of the time against terrans who take a fast 3rd on iccup at my level. |

I think he's trying to say that 2 bases can support a maximum of 8 gates without cutting probes if you have proper macro...but then puppy is good enough to do 2 base 8 factories, so its not like this can't be done. haha |

I think he's trying to say that 2 bases can support a maximum of 8 gates without cutting probes if you have proper macro...but then puppy is good enough to do 2 base 8 factories, so its not like this can't be done. haha

A great thing is to just go and set TL as your homepage(hoping it is already  ) and then create a new window again and again and again and again. Often lags it up. Also, make cpu really hot, and play a youtube video thats 1 hour long or more(the movies). Do all of this with sound off(also best for concentrating on SC ^^). |

| Well I'm specifically referring to when lag destroys your play, and then you just add a little extra so he gets dropped. Not doing this as a way of winning ICCUP. In my game every time my mutas flew anywhere near his base the game started lagging. Then he just macro'd me to death with units without the same fragility as mutas, completely depending on the game lagging. Overall I think the game seemed suspicious since the lag timing was IMHO a bit too good to be normal, but I don't feel that it was enough to go witch-hunting. He definitely didn't deserve the win, so that's why I first told him the lag made the game unplayable. Trying the nice approach gave the response of something like "Haha 1 archon got 12 mutas". He almost dropped maybe 3-4 times during the game in critical situations (such as mutas sniping HTs) and after starting to just continuously stream archons, one by one, which shouldn't have been a problem for one control group of mutas he started gaining ground on me(impossible to micro around because of the lag case). So I did what I did. For the first time in my life I felt justice was served on ICCUP. Couldn't I have quit earlier for a draw? Well I didn't realize the lag until it was too late(it didn't show up). |

After 2 minutes you get a loss from leaving, if the lag is noticeable when i just start mining and changing the latency doesn't help, I usually just quit out. |

Thats gonna lag yourself, not your opponent. I think the only wayis to spam chat and spam actions. Btw, I haven't checked, but if you can pull your opponents ip using netstat, then you can DOS him too, to try to make him lag out. |
