Isn't 2.3k hp incredibly low though? With 520resistance, 4k armour and 17k hp I find myself surviving with like 1-5% hp at times. That's with Mantra of Healing/time in need though. Last edit: 2012-05-26 05:12:56 |

23k* btw. Lol. With breath of heaven, serenity, and lashing tail kick, I'm usually alright kiting back elite packs for miles and in circles. And seven sidedstrikes to boot. I used to love sweeping wind but too hard to keep it up and if you can't you have to restack it with crits. I don't think my gear is good its just what I managed to do inferno act 1 with.Last edit: 2012-05-26 05:18:24 |

And I prefer Fists of Fury. Looks so much cooler to follow up a dash with a flurry of punches!

Yeah, it's just a pity the secondary ability is so bad. Seriously Blizzard, adding a low damage DoT on an ability that involves a rapid series of punches? WHY

Go the AH and buy the best magic (blue) fist weapons you can with attack speed and damage bonuses (of any type). That's pretty much all you need for your level. Later on you'll have to start worrying about defensive skills and the like, but for now if you just focus on damage and attack speed you'll be just fine. |

so you mean i'll be using fists of thunderclap forever? i just bought rare swords with 50+ dps each with 75 dex a while ago for 2500 gold each. are those good enough?

the swords i bought also have 9% atk spd.Last edit: 2012-05-26 09:20:06 |

Right now I'm running with this spec: http://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/monk#aegijh!XdU!cZaZcaSwitched around my passives in hell since the main problem there is survivability....doing pretty good against normal mobs and bosses but champions with certain buffs are a bitch.
I think swapping seven sided strike for Sweeping wind would be better. In addition, if you can get item with resistence to everything then you can swap out "one with everything" for Transcendence, giving you much beter survivability overall. since you'll be duel wielding and all. |

Those closes are always going to out dps you. they are pure dps classes.
My advice would be to team-up with them and choose a tanky build. This is my preference: http://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/monk#bdXifQ!YcX!ZbZYZZ
Grab a shield and be unkillable. You will feel like a party hero when you solo balial in a group of 3 when the 2 others die. |

Nah, all the spirit generators have their uses. I mostly use WotHF (Fists of Fury) for the dash and Crippling Wave (various runes) for the AoE and debuff. I don't know the DPS you need at that level. Just keep buying better weapons as you go. |

The idea is doable in Act 1, but Act 2 just pown you like nothing else. You can't kill stuff before they kill you without a lot of tanking power. I'm at almost 20k dps, trying to sacrifice the least possible of it to become tankier. 37k hp, 250 all resist, 4k armor ( because i'm running 2H ) is still not enough to be able to not die before I kill stuff in an elite pack during my defensive cooldown. |

Thats terrible advice, i soloed nightmare and hell and now half of inferno without having to even think about having someone else DPS for me.
I dont really remember what i ran in nightmare, buti n hell i used crippling wave with concussion, decent aoe with reduced dmg on it. Also sweeping winds is one of your best DPS abilities.

Ive done this before but the damage of Crippling wave is a bit disappointing since it attacks slowly and for 1.1 weapon damage. This is how I tanked Inferno Diablo. It works in general if you dont mind taking it very slow. Once again though, you need at least some post Act 1 Inferno gear.
i am using crippling wave with the 140% rune and conviction aura with the amplification rune that brings it up to 24%. currently getting two shotted in act 3 inferno though so might have to rethink the entire approach again lol

actually if those are your raw stats, if you had around 250 more additional resist you should be able to burst down elites comfortably. might just want to consider picking up a shield and getting one of those 1her high dps weapons on the AH.

i would put it at around 400-500 resistance for all, armor around 5000 and 40k+ hp, if your armor items alone can provide you with those stats, you can start experimenting with different builds etc to find what works best for you.Last edit: 2012-05-26 11:33:32 |

When you say 5k armor, what are you referring to? I assume it's base armor with the passive for dex, but before the mantra, enchantress and attack buffs.Last edit: 2012-05-26 11:48:33 |
