Hi TL,
I was playing around with my hotkey setup to improve my play and had a number of questions.
1. Is there a way to set the "order" of units in a control group? Say I have my nexii, gateways, robos, forges etc. on one hotkey. (I want to do this so I can check my workers and production buildings in one click - easier to macro). When I select the group I can give commands to the gateways but not to the nexii, similar to how an army with HT by default lets you command the templar. I don't like this ordering, since most often I use my nexii and want it to be the "first" group that pops up so I can build probes simply by hitting E. How can I customize the control group to work like this?
2. I noticed, while watching someone stream, that when a unit completed, a text message would appear in the center of the screen. This does not happen for my game. How can I enable this?
3. Is it possible to have the game give me a notification when a worker is built?

1. You can't change the ordering of units / buildings within a control group. You can 'Tab' through them, or reverse 'Tab', but the ordering is fixed, based on what is in the group.
2. That message appears after they've activated the 'Last Alert' hotkey. It's in the Camera Section. I think the default is spacebar.
3. It does give a notification, both audio "SCV Ready" type thing, but also an alert on the left side of the screen. You may have them disabled. Check your settings. Again, in Options.Last edit: 2012-05-18 14:09:29 |

1) My only guess is, when you hit your control group hotkey, and all mixed units are together, you can rotate between different kind of units in the group pressing the TAB key.
2) the text message and an icon appears on the left side of the screen. Maybe the feature that you saw is from the stream itself. EDIT: Maybe you saw a replay. When you watch SC2 replay files, you can see some info in the center of the screen!
3) the notification is on the left side of the screen! you can hit spacebar when it appears, but sometimes there are a "flood" of nitifications... I myself click on the notification icon/text and the camera will move to that event.
I hope this help you, I'm only a noob learning yet, but that info help me a lot!Last edit: 2012-05-18 14:20:28 |

I don't think you can change the order, you would have to hit tab or whatever you set the key to cycle through groups in a control group.
Not sure about your other question. I know that for me it always says when a building is complete or research is complete. If your doing it so you know when to build another probe I feel that you should just be spamming your control groups any ways so you should know when to build a worker. For instance I have my nexii on 3 and gates and robo on 4, and all upgrade containing buildings on 5 so I just spam 345345345345 then you can see when a probe is about to pop so you can make another or when to warp in. |

| I was going to mention this before, but I left it out. I would strongly suggest against putting Nexus in the same control group as production facilities. Think rally points. At least, you need production together and you can put research facilities with either since they don't have rallies, but I would suggest with Nexus to reduce Tabbing. |

1. No you can't change the order, however, depending on what is in the control group is what order it will be in. I think that it is nexuses are always first, then gateways, and after that i am not sure, you will have to test it out. 2. As previous people have said, just press spacebar. 3. Yes, on the top left of the screen is the 'notifications'. If you go to the options menu, then gameplay, then turn on notifications then that will turn it on if it is already not on. |
