If you want it for gaming a desktop it´s better, also if you build it yourself it´s cheaper.

| All of those are extremely underpowered and nowhere near "new and current" |

Intel Pentium G620, $70 Biostar H61 mobo, $50 Team Elite 2x2GB 1333MHz RAM, $22 Rosewill case, $30 WD Caviar Blue 160GB HDD, $70 Rosewill 300W PSU, $25 NVidia GT520, $60 LG DVD Burner, $18 (don't get this if you don't need it) Windows 7 $100 (not advocating anything.. but there are ways to save your money here)
Total comes to $345 with the DVD burner, taxes/shipping not applied. OS adds $100 onto that.
edit: You say you can't build it, but it's actually extremely simple. Here's a really good tutorial.
Or if you're looking for a laptop, this is OK but nowhere near as powerful as the desktop build I posted. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834158277Last edit: 2012-05-22 09:59:25 |

| Do you have a monitor? The monitor easily takes 100 dollars out of your budget, and although this may sound wrong it might be good to pirate Windows if you want a desktop, otherwise go for a laptop. |

| Yeah you're going to have to ramp up your budget if you're going to buy a pre-built desktop. I can't imagine any reason why a 14 year old would need a laptop yet, so desktops are more logical. They're cheaper on a price-to-performance ratio compared to laptops. That being said there are things you left out as some have mentioned, such as if you need an operating system or monitor. Those can make or break your budget. The desktops you listed are not really good, I'm using a computer will nearly similar computer specifications and SC2 runs like crap. Also consider building a computer instead of buying a pre-built one. It's not all that difficult to build one. There's many Youtube videos that show you how to do it. Even if you run into problems, just post back here for help. Usually it comes down to a wiring problem from what I've seen. Building a computer will be overall better for you as you will get a cheaper computer that can run better than pre-built ones. |

I want to have my own computer that is new and current. My price range is from $100-$400.
I'm assuming by "new and current" you mean capably of playing the latest games. Based on your price range, the newest game you're going to be playing is minesweeper.
Sorry kid, but high end hardware costs money. Better try to get a summer job. |

Take your email out of the OP, or label it as exampleemailaddress at gmail(dot)com. Popular public forums like TL get a lot of traffic, and you'll likely go on spam lists if you keep it there in plain form.
You have a TL inbox anyway which is easier to for us to use than an external email address.Last edit: 2012-05-22 13:48:16 |

It might be able to run SC2 on the absolute lowest settings, and even then playing anything besides a 1v1 would probably cause terrible slowdown. I looked up some benchmarks that suggest AMD's Llano Fusion core is actually out performed by an i5 with Intel Graphics. Basically, that PC is an overpriced piece of shit.
Sorry, but if you want to play modern games decently you're going to have to shell out at least $850 for a laptop and at minimum $700 for a prebuilt desktop since I would say you should not build your own as you clearly know very little about computers.

Okay so, I think your expectations are going to be a good deal higher than they should be. Your talking about possibly spending 100-400 dollars on a computer. Expensive dinners cost more than that...
With a computer at this low of a price range, you'd be lucky to be able to open two word documents without it crashing. It also seems like said previously in a post, that you know very little about computers. You might want to check e-bay and see if you can find a fairly old one. But I don't think your goal of playing sc2 on your brand new computer is going to happen within your current price range.

Your time will be well spent learning to assemble a computer. It will be cheaper and better plus you get to learn an awesome new skill.
Don't be afraid, just take your time to read the guide posted above and dive in.

Here's the short and honest answer as a nice wake-up call: That's not possible. The minimum price you have to pay for a complete system that's "new and current" floats around $600, not counting rebates special deals etc. That's minimum, not even recommended.
