Dear fellow liquidians,

I am currently getting informations to open a permanent Barcraft in Brussels. How exciting!? I know But before we can get started , I need YOU!

Here's the plan: If you live in Brussels or near, I would like you to give your opinion and answer a few questions to see if it would be viable and if there is a sufficient community support to hold the project.

One of the main question is if there is enough people of the community who would come to such a place and to do what. So here are the questions:

1)Would you be interested to come to a barcraft in Brussels? How often?

2) In which area do you forsee it the best? ( Downtown, Ixelles, Etterbeek, auderghem)

3)Would you come from far away for big events? MLG Dreamhack etc..

4) Which games would you like to see? ( Sc2 , CoD, LoL, Diablo 3, Dota 2, etc...)

5) Would you like to play or just watch?

6) Any other informations you'd like to add.

Thank you in advance, try to answer the questions and stay focused on the topic in Brussels.

I really hope that the community will be pleased with that project and hopefully we can have a lair for all the gamers in Belgium!

Good luck with your barcraft! I know you want to have reliable data and such before announcing an actual barcraft, but in my experience it works best if you "just" organize an actual barcraft and the people will come. Beforehand people are hesitant/lazy/shy/whatever to show their support or answer an "extensive" questionnaire

I live in Gent, however, I leave in July, but my ideas would be:
1 I would go for big events MLG Championships, IPL, IEM.
2 I dont need to be able to play, watching and beer is all that is needed
3 Make it anywhere near Brussel Zuid or Brussel Centraal, commuting transports makes it a no no for people froum outside town. I mean with this, somewhere like Outpost Brussel, that place is easy to reach.

Hey,

1) I'm from Brussels and it would be interesting to have a barcraft. Doesn't have to be that often, mostly for big events. (MLG, GSL, Dreamhack, HSC etc...)

2) I think the best for everyone is to organize it downtown. It is more accessible for everyone by tram/metro/bus/train.

3) Seeing I live in Brussels i don't have to come that far.

4) I would be most interested by SC2, CS and Diablo 3 events. But it's rather a personal choice, it depends from person to person I guess.

5) A barcraft is mostly drinking and watching starcraft but I wouldn't mind showing off my (fake) starcraft skills and play a few games with people there.

6) Not much to add, I think you should have enough information with the provided answers.
Don't hate the player, hate the game!

Hi,

1)From Louvain-la-Neuve, I would definitely be interested for major event like MLG championship or DreamHack

2) Same as Krayzy, downtown would be the best choice for accessibility.

3)Well I don't consider that I live far from Brussels.

4) Mainly SC2, but i got nothing against LoL

5) Watching is enought for me

I don't live in Brussels anymore but my parents are still there so I would definitely turn up if there was one on when I was around (about twice a year)

In answer to your questions:

1) Yes if I were around, as often as possible

2) Center of town is by far the easiest to get to in terms of travel, but places around Grand Place, Gare Centrale, St. Gery do so much business I don't think you'd get anyone to show eSports. Better places might be near Schuman (train station + little bars) or Ixelles. (I like Etterbeek and Uccle as well but they're not quite as accessible.) Or, somewhere near Merode/Montgomery maybe?

3) No but I would potentially come for any event I was in town for.

4) SC2 and LoL (dirty word I know) are the only eSports I really follow.

5) That depends entirely on how much I drink Watching is most important to me, playing I can take it or leave it.

All right guys thx for the feedback, keep going!

Just to clarify, this will be a permanent barcraft, means a bar only dedicated to esport, not just rented for events. This is why we need to figure if it there will be people interested even when there is no major event going on.

Any ideas, infos are welcome,

Cheers

I really liked you second answer ( being myself involved in the organisation of this barcraft ) !

Creating this barcraft downtown was our first idea, but as you cleverly said it is not that simple for us..

BUT we are trying to find a place near a train station and/or a subway stations in one of the places you've listed, therefore reaching our bar will be slightly harder for people living out of Brussels except if you come with your car ( GL HF to park your car in the center of Brussels ) :-)

SO my questioning would be : Could this fact discourage you ? Consider the fact we ll try to find a place as reachable as possible and that you'll probably only have to take the subway once or go a bit further with your train !

Thanks all, may the force be with us on this one !

I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it

Some things to consider:
1) Public transport in Brussels is unbelievably good if you are somewhere on the main metro line so accessibility from that point of view shouldn't be too discouraging.

2) Parking outside the very center is often reasonably good too, but if this is a barcraft people coming from outside of town will want to drink (hopefully otherwise the bar won't have you back ) so essentials will be train access or nearby cheap ass hostels/hotels.

NB: My own opinions. I'm sure other people will have their own thoughts.

1)Would you be interested to come to a barcraft in Brussels? How often? -For big events during summer and winter holidays.

2) In which area do you forsee it the best? ( Downtown, Ixelles, Etterbeek, auderghem) -Probably best downtown so it's easily accessed by metro.

3)Would you come from far away for big events? MLG Dreamhack etc.. -I stay in Waterloo when I"m in EU, so not applicable, haha :D

4) Which games would you like to see? ( Sc2 , CoD, LoL, Diablo 3, Dota 2, etc...) -SC2

5) Would you like to play or just watch? -Well, I'd come just to watch, but if you offer playing opportunities, that'll be even better :D
