I think it's ridiculous to bring up geographic bias when the differences are huge. Yeah, geographic bias is definitely a strong aspect, just look at greece and cyprus, they ALWAYS give eachother 12, even if no other country gives either 12. And yeah, scandinavian countries often do give good votes to eachtother, but in this case, Sweden didn't give high points to any scandinavian country (not surprising, iceland was the only country with a decent song), and tons of countries outside of scandinavia gave sweden really high points. Hell, we won by what, almost a hundred points? Thats far more than geographic bias will account for.

Eurovision isn't a talant show, it's broader than that. Simple truth is, Euphoria was by far the best song this year, and that's why it won.
And please don't call out bias, I havn't liked our represented songs in years, and I always hope for the best song to win, just this year it happened to be ours.

Well that's debatable. It is a catchy song by all means but I think there were other more creative compositions out there such as Serbia's. Calling the most popular music the best music, while having a shred of logic and correctness to it, I wouldn't call it a "simple truth" and "by far the best song".
Just when I thought I was out, Blizz pulled me back in..
Ahahahahahahah, Norway last, Sweden first, oh god the indignation from Norwegian newspapers/tabloids. Sweden deserved it though, best song by FAR, though I don't think ours was the worst, either, but of course I'm biased in that case.
But remember, you still didn't get more total points than Alexander Rybak :3
So far as we can determine, peanut butter has no effect on the rotation of the earth.

Not to pander on details or anything, but saying that the Swedish song brought something new to eurovision is not really true. I'd consider it a traditional eurovision song that was just very well-made. Sweden deserved the win.
Sadly Denmark did not fare well. I think our song deserved top 10, but alas it did end there. Maybe it was too boring for eurovision not relying on a quick beat.
Well finally we have a winner that fits the mold of a eurovision. Techno/house/electronic type music with a catchy tune, definitely what europe is known for. But just so you know, the baggy rave clothes might be overdoing it a little. You have a great song, no need to go that extreme.
I am so happy that Sweden won! Me and my friend met some awesome Swedes in Rhodos that we were watching the finals with at a local bar cheering and having a great time
Can't wait to see it live in Stockholm next year :D

Political instability voting is the funniest thing ever hahah
I love how everyone always claims it's "political" voting when a country gives high points to its neighbors. Couldn't possibly be that neighbors have close cultural ties and therefore similar tastes.
When Croatia gives 12 points to Serbia it's "Eastern bloc favoritism". When the UK gives 12 points to Jedward I guess it's your impeccable taste in music?

I was gonna say that Europe gave you The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, The Rolling Stones and many more rock bands and that actually the vast majority of european music isn't dancy, electro-pop crap and then I remembered, the UK isn't really part of europe.... we just pretend to be when it suits us ;p
Also.... Sweden currently pump out the best rock in Europe, they are far better known for that than for their pop music.
When there is nothing left to lose but your dignity, it is already gone.
Really Greece should have won the tournament. After listening to every single song on the final, only that tune remained memorable. The sexiness of the singer is just icing on the already enticing cake.

Oh well, great thread bet it took a while to find all those songs! I always watch it every year too it makes me laugh :D Some of the acts are funny as well.
PS. JEDWARD HWAITING
UK gets seeded because they give lots of funds to the show. And you guys lose all the time because the guys the UK sends suck even though there are much better singers in the UK.
UK has 5 wins yo. More or equal than any other nation exept Ireland. Also 15 second places which is much higher than for anyone else.
If anyone wants a career beyond comedy being a comedy group they really stay far away from Eurovision. Like Blue did it last year and they're a boy band from over 10 years ago, they just kind of got together for a laugh and to help promote a tour.
I expect it's the same for all the countries, I know it is for Ireland as they seem to be putting in Jedward every year now (a pair of twins that everyone voted through on a British talent show as a joke). But then I think the German one a few years ago became successful apparently, maybe they view it a bit differently.
Why do people keep expecting things they know nothing about? At least you said "I expect" unlike the others who just thought their assumptions were a fact. Anyway a lot of countries take it seriously. Sweden and Greece especially AFAIK. The swedish eurovision qualifier is their most popular show on the country. Estimated 4 million swedish people tuned in to watch the finals of their last qualifier, which is almost half of the entire population.
PS. Live stream in 34 minutes.
Yeah was just an assumption. Thanks for the knowledge though, didn't realise they took it seriously.
