I don't understand, do you mean how are they picked to be invitees? If so, most likely an assessment of their achievements in both DotA and DotA 2 in recent tournaments. |

6 invitees missing and there are a lot of good teams left in the open ;o. Here's hoping mouz or mTw will get in . Probably we will see MithTrust/MUFC/Zenith next. After those few there's Infs, Quantic, VP, DTS, M5, Darer, Next.Kz and more hanging around!
Edit: Totally forgot EG, but seeing or rather not seeing them perform lately means that until they qualify they won't show up ;o.Last edit: 2012-05-24 05:56:34 |

Returning players: Natus Vincere: 4/5 of Na'Vi(ArtStyle being replaced by Ars-Art), 1/5 of M5(Ars-Art). EHOME: 3/5 of EHOME(PLT, Dai and 357). Invictus Gaming: 2/5 of iG(Zhou, 430), 1/5 of TyLoo(Faith). Orange: 1/5 of MUFC(Ky' xY), however, in recent games Mushi has been subbing for him, so it's unclear if he'll attend. Counter Logic Gaming: 2/5 of OK.Nv.Int(Pajkatt, Lacoste), 1/5 of GGnet(Miracle), 1/5 of MYM(Misery). |

Yea, all of these were expected, except maybe IG (some were hoping for LGD instead) Rest are no brainers for the most part. |

Let's play "Try to guess the rest of the invites."
Mouz
EG
Zenith mTw M5
Darer
My guess is already wrecked. Two slots for three teams.Last edit: 2012-05-26 02:32:09 |

| Good list but i think maybe only one of M5/Darer will make it. Don't know who will be other slot though, possibly MUFC or both Quantic/EG go in. Last edit: 2012-05-24 06:26:06 |

Why don't they just invite the champion and runner up from the last tournament if anyone and have qualifiers? |

Because qualifiers are very hard to run in Dota 2. Scheduling 10 people for each match is a huge pain and because Asian teams have to get their visas 2-3 months in advance you have to run those qualifiers 4-5 months in advance. The infrastructure isn't there for running qualifiers in every region - for that you need organizers on every continent to collect the teams and their members, tons of language barriers, and replays which Valve did not put in until this year.
Qualifiers are an excellent idea in theory, but the Dota community does not have the infrastructure to run them in different continents. It's not SC 2, where scheduling players is a lot easier and the infrastructure exists for organizing qualifiers in different continents.Last edit: 2012-05-24 06:44:18 |

Mouz Either Quantic or EG Zenith mTw M5 Darer
This list is exactly what I would guess. I'll just go ahead and make the call for EG, though I don't really like their squad much I think their roster has been set longer than new-new Quantic's has? Which apparently makes a difference in these matters. |

It doesn't and it hasn't. I kind of hope MUFC get an invite. Orange them and Zenith look so strong. Last edit: 2012-05-24 07:15:02 |

Hmm, okay. We will have to see how they run their two wild-cards then and maybe in the future it'll be less invites.
I just think that the DotA 2 pro-gamers, in general, would benefit a lot more from a series of tournaments with a large prize pool rather than one prize pool every year going to teams that Valve themselves selected. You can still keep the International as a large end season tournament. |

But that exists already. The Defense will be regular, as is the likes if IG Monthly Madness and ProDota |
