So, I just came back from a few year break from BW. This is at a D+ level on Iccup, 3rd game since I've been back, and decided to start playing Protoss. Forgive me if my build order, etc is awful. Tried Bisu's PvT build, but think it might be off a bit.
I lost for multiple reasons, but I think I started out behind when he sniped my natural, and from there my unit composition and possibly macro made it so I couldn't come back. Maybe I should have teched to carriers much sooner? Another issue was how I engaged his army, possibly I could have had better flanks? I'm not too sure.
Thank you for any help you can provide, even if it's a simple as telling me how many gateways I should have, etc.

Okay as a protoss you went for a 1gate fe which is fine however when you started to go in to the late game you made a mistake when you were microing your reavers . You let your goons die in the open without microing them and for me that is where everything starts to go wrong .
Your rallying was bad, gateway placement needs to be more neater, and you need more observers to spy on the terran movement know what kind of build is he doing how many factories ? For me at this level which is D+ going templars is a big mistake as arbiters with stasis will help you more in shutting down pushes with tight siege tank line because D+ terran don't bother to split their tanks in their tank line .
Also I found it funny that when you transition to carriers you made scout what made you think that was viable or even worth it ? Those precious minerals could have been used to make more zealots and even arbiters . That terran 2 base push was really bad any competent protoss would have seen it miles away and flank him from all side although you had the supply lead after losing a lot of units . You threw it away by teching to carriers and making many stargates which could have been used to produce arbiters.
Microing and casting templars is no easy job and I find it already difficult controlling a 200/200 zealot and dragoon army with arbiters as spell casters having to baby sit those templars will prompt you to have more unit awareness and control. In other words maybe playing with basic units like goons + leg speed zealot and shuttle with arbiters is the best for now to get yourself warm up with the game ? . Nonetheless I am sorry if I sounded kind of harsh but for a player who just recently started playing broodwar back it wasn't that bad and the terran wasn't that good anyway.
I am not sure what is your end game by the way if you were planning to go on 2 base carrier than commit to it or if you were planning to go on 3 base gate way + arbiter than follow through it . Hope this helps you and happy hunting. It would also be advisable to watch some retired pro gamers replays like any time to get the idea how the flow the game should be and why is he doing a certain action at that particular timing . It will help a lot if you can analysed his build order and integrate and modify to fit your play style.

Thank you. I appreciate the time you took for this. I will go over those replays tomorrow, as it's very late for me right now. I will try to incorporate everything you mentioned, as well as incorporate what I can from replays. Micro aspect is so hard after coming back from SC2. Used to how simple everything was on there. T_T
As for the scouts, the position I was in made me try any desperate move I could to try and slow down his push. Obviously that was a terrible idea, and I'll try not to do that again.
