Recently I've been trying to play some of the newer games released like Diablo 3 and TERA. Whenever things start getting intense animation wise, my graphics card fan goes crazy and I can see with tools like PC Wizard that the temperature is above 90C. Sometimes the computer even shuts down.
Before getting into more details of the issue, here's my computer build specs:
Case: Antec Three Hundred Midi Tower Black, Fans: 1x 140mm Topp, 1x 120mm rear, 2x USB, Audio PSU: Chieftec Smart Series 550W PSU, ATX 12V V2.3, Standard, 1x 6pin+1x 6+2pin PCIe, 6x SATA, 120mm Fan Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3LR, P45, Socket-775 ATX, GbLAN, DDR2, ICH10R, PCI-Ex(2.0)x16 CPU: Intel Core™ 2 Quad Q9400 2,66GHz, Socket 775, 6MB, 1333MHz, Boxed w/fan Memory: Corsair TWIN2X 6400 DDR2, 4096MB CL5, Kit w/two matched CM2X2048-6400 Dimm's GFX: XFX GeForce GTX 260 680M 896MB PhysX Monitor #1: Samsung 23" LED Syncmaster S23A700D Monitor #2: Samsung 23" LCD Syncmaster 2343NW
Regarding the monitors I run all games in windowed fullscreen mode on the LED monitor and whatever I keep running in the background on the old monitor. Connected with DVI and VGA (through DVI adapter).
Load temperatures (SC2 2v2 Ultra settings; with browser, Winamp and chat clients running in background): http://i46.tinypic.com/2zjazb9.jpg
The fan goes from around 50% in idle to 100% when playing. Low settings SC2 is fine besides some FPS drops in maxed army fights in team games.
After shutting down the game the fan is still going at 100% 20 minutes later. Frankly it's unbearable. It's like having your mom standing next to you with the vacuum cleaner. In fact, I have to shut down the system and let it rest for a while after posting this thread.
So, to the main concern I have. Should I invest in a cheap fan to bandaid my setup or just get a new graphics card? And is there any other temperatures that seem too high? I've planned to buy a new computer within 1-1.5 year but until then I will only be playing games like SC2, D3 and WoW. It seems like I'd have to go all the way up to GTX 560 or similar to make the investment worthwile, which is a bit expensive for me to lash out atm.
Also, I realize there's probably a lot of dust inside the case I can't reach that I should get rid of. What are good ways to go about dusting? I was thinking about getting compressed gas on a tube, but I'm not sure how efficient it actually is.
If anyone can point me in the directions of good coolers for my card, I'd be shopping at these sites:

100 SEK = ~$14 USD (I hope you can bear with the little Swedish there is added to the infos) |

That's how you meant to dust your case. At most places that do maintenance, they dust by using an air compressor to blow it out. Just tape/hold down the fans so you don't ruin them. |

Blowing on the fans and making them spin manually ruins them? Crap -_- |

If they spin too fast, you can damage them, which I've done to my laptop fan before after a few cleanings. |
