Regarding the effect of electricity on your body: Really high voltage cramps up everything in you, you become unable to move and your nerves don't respond.
I know it from a friend who studied electronics. While in the lab a schoolmate got into the circuit and hat to be tackled by the teacher cause he became unable to get out of his own.
