Something that lately got to my mind was, how many skype call shows there are. Some better than the other. (SotG/ITG/TGS/CTL etcetc.)
Is this good or is this getting repetative? Does the community want this or are they up for something new?
I'm not trying to bash anyone or anything, this is meant as a discussion.
What is your opinion on this?
PLEASE don't start unargumented bashing or anything. This is meant as a serious point of discussion.
Mods feel free to move this thread or anything because I'm not sure in what area I should post this. |

What are the alternatives? What would be something typically new?
My opinion on this is nothing, if I don't like the shows, I don't watch them. I don't quite know what you think "new" is and what the subject would be or how Skype calls would make something redundant in one way or another (there are a lot of talk-shows) |

I think they are neat. I usually don't watch them, I just have them on in the background while I play CS:S muted or something. The way I listen to it, it is more like a radio talk show or something, and I really like shows like that.
I think it's good. Repetitive too maybe, but I only listen to SotG and the one with Djwheat, live on 3 I think. I really didn't know there were any other ones, lol.Last edit: 2012-05-28 03:49:08 |

No. Lets have a bunch og ventrilo shows instead. would be much better *sarcasm*.
Its a piece of technology used to make a show. Skype is not "the" show. It would be like asking "are there too many movies out there today filmed with a video camera?"Last edit: 2012-05-28 03:59:39 |

| I think they're good, then again, for my case, you would have to take into account that I don't bother to watch all of them or find the vods of them. If it is being streamed while I'm browsing TL though, it is usually what I'll be watching (unless there is some big showmatch or extremely interesting matchup going on in NASL, IPLTAC, MCSL, etc) |

Thats not what I meant.... I meant shows like SotG where they get into a group call, talk about subjects of gaming, have each others opinion about it. (And don't do anything different to fill the show with) |

I personally don't care if skype is used in a show for ocmmunication or not. The content is what's important and because it's just not possible or should I say it wouldn't be profitable to fly in guests and put them all at one table just for the sake of doing something different.. I actually don't know what your point is. Would you rather watch shows where Teamspeak / Ventrilo is used?
Or do you mean the talkshow format is getting kinda repetitive? In my opinion, there's nothing wrong with it. Actually, I think there can't be enough shows talking about the game and it's community if the people discussing know what they are talking about and talking about interesting topics and not saying the same over and over again, what actually could get kinda hard if there are a ton of shows discussing the latest news.. So, I guess I understand your point but can't agree with you since the discussable content and potential of improvement is far away from being depleted.

QFT, I don't really understand the OP's complaint. Skype is just the medium that they use because it is convenient. If you think it's getting repetitive, go produce your own content and get the most famous casters, players, and personalities onto your amazing show. Oh wait....... Yeah, don't bash.

Something that has gotten on my mind lately has been, are there too many threads that whine about essentially nothing? I mean, they pose a situation like it's a problem but there's no point to talking about it.
It feels like they just want people to agree with them to validate their ego. Does anyone else feel this way?
This is JUST a discussion I'm not trying to bash anyone or any thread in particular. |

I find this particularly lazy. Let's raise the subject that shows with Skype may have become reptitious and biasly suggest that we need something new.
"Oh, what do you suggest otherwise then? It sounds like you are looking for people to rally with your particular opinion?"
I dunno, not my job. I just want to see who agrees (or disagrees with me). I'm stirring the pot, to add ingredients would make me a chef; that's not my job. |

| only the audience can say if there are too many or too few, and, since starcraft 2 is a global game, it's only natural that the shows be made via teleconferences |

| Internet based 'Talk Shows' will go out of business when they become unpopular. If you are annoyed that there are too many of them existing right now, why not find something else to do/ or watch? |

| I don't understand where you guys are getting the point that i'm complaining...... Im asking for your opinion about this.... Im trying to get a discussion started, but you guys are all taking it down because apparently I am complaining? I was staying entirely neutral on the discussion... I didn't even give my opinion because I knew stuff like this would happen that way. Yet.. When I'm not doing it you guys still say that I'm taking a point??? |

Pretty much this. But an alternative would be shows where the player sit next to each other like the stuff Artosis does besides SotG. I will never forget "This is my ferret. Kiss the ferret on the head, Wolf! This is my puppy. Kiss the puppy on the head, Wolf!" |

I wouldn't say there is too many "skype call" shows, it's more that there are too many shows discussing the same sc2-related stuff. 2-3 shows seems a more adequate number, since not everybody wants to listen to the same casters/players.
Personally I sometimes listen to SoTG while warming up with FFA or 2v2 ladder games. So dno if the shows is great, I only use it as background noise ;-). |
