You have to provide some kind of evidence/proof (screenshots/replays etc.)if you are going to accuse somebody.

| i am curious to know if Blizzard has ever made any official comment regarding hacks, other than silently moving them to bronze league or whatever. i have not been able to find anything on blizzard forums or whatnot. i would hope to see some kind of official statement or whatnot of proactive/reactive things they have done. otherwise how can the rest of the community know that they are taking this seriously? |

As I said already in another thread, I'm not sure blizzard is fully aware of how serious hacking has become and that players like Zack are being invited to WCS or semi pros like Spades hacking in show matches.
I noticed that some players have already posted threads on blizzard eu forum about the recent events, however I still don't see a post on us forum, someone needs to post it there. |

i assume the popularity of hacks at top masters and GM level really makes playing on the ladder pointless. for pros with lots of practice partners, i guess they can just play custom games, but for newer players (at high masters to GM level), this would be a bigger problem i think because they dont have as many other resources for practice.
unfortunately, i cant imagine blizzard doing anything about this. they are aloof. :| |

Blizzard clearly knows they just might not really have a way to stop it at this moment. |

| I just watched the video analysing the replays of OnTheThrone, and for me it is the most conclusive evidence I have ever seen for somebody maphacking. Love how all these players being called out are not speaking up on this forum (assuming they have a TL account of course). |

murdera, top diamond but mid masters mmr (probably didn't get promoted because of the ladder lock). http://drop.sc/192695
at 6:00 and 7:00 he randomly goes to his third to kill my probe/pylon. at 10:00 and 10:15 looks at my base at my twilight council through fog of war. at 11:00 goes once again with his units to kill my probe and moves his units to my proxy exp. without scouting it . at 15:00 he looks at my base again. at 17:00 he looks at my third + army . at 17:45 he does some micro without even looking at his units.Last edit: 2012-06-07 08:14:04 |

Not sure if this is really relevant to the post, but after all these threads popped up, people are incredibly quick to call you a hacker, even when doing "normal" builds... I'm mainly talking about walling in with barracks against zerg og making 2 or 3 bunkers vs toss they will almost always call you a hacker.
Anyone else experiencing this? I am high master on europe facing a lot of grandmasters... |

This is, of course, a side effect of hacking. Once they have been proven to exist in high levels everyone assumes talented play = hacker. For example, see Counterstrike. Go two rounds on a pub server without dying or get above 10-0? HACKER. |

This why it's important that TL sets up somekind of allegation guidelines |

There is a system, it's called libel law. Anyone who's unjustly accused and feels strongly enough about that should sue. TL has every right to police their own forums, but they don't have any moral obligation to do so either. There is a system in place, it's used rightly all the time, and unjustly on occasion. |

Wow. This is the kind of the dumb, elitist bullshit that needs to get stamped out if you want e-sports to grow. |

keep that attitude to yourself, just because the title is "GM Map Hackers" doesnt mean there are not good examples of maphacking in every league, if he has something to add let himLast edit: 2012-06-07 12:22:03 |

I disagree. There would simply be too many lower level players to police. I feel it is correct to hunt out the cheaters in high masters and GM because these are higher profile players who, as we saw, have a chance to play tournaments for money.
The place it really matters is competitive play. I am middling skill level at SC2 but I can appreciate the distinction in terms of impact on the sport. It is important to root this out, much like steroid use in the Tour de France, because it is the most public and highest prestige area of the sport. |

I think it was the OP that made a good comment on that, something along the lines of hackers are generally doing so to get higher up on the ladder. If every high masters/GM player hacker gets caught, then it does deter lower league hackers since they now have a limit on how high up the ladder they can go before they get banned.
However, this should not stop you from emailing blizzard and posting on the blizzard forums (or ever starting a thread to try to collect a bunch of replays of the lower leagues to send the lump-sum on to blizzard). |

I thought an opponent maphacked, but after I checked the reply, it was clear he didn't.
Maybe more people should do the same. |

Well; that is why I double checked, obviously. |
