Despite the cool factor, Swords are actually the worst weapon you could pick for the zombie apocalypse. You assume I've not thought of this and not stolen goggles and a full surgical clothing to wear under my FULL Samarai war gear! I'll admit its a bit iffy, but having never fired a gun in my life, my aim is probably a lot more iffy!
As effective as Samurai armour was at defense, I think you might find a full Samurai outfit unwieldy in an apocalyptic scenario where dexterity is one of your more definitive advantages.

What's worse is that the the general populace KNEW about the epidemic during the first outbreak, but eventually stopped caring as the news cycles moved on.
