and yes it makes sense, because obviously black market organs are not screened and people who are dying will take whatever they can get.

Despite the cool factor, Swords are actually the worst weapon you could pick for the zombie apocalypse. Zombies are essentially a one-hit melee kill; ideally you want to stay as far away from them as possible. That cut you got shaving? That nick on your hand from breaking into the snack machine? Your exposed eyes? The zombie you decapitated just sprayed infected blood all over them. GG no re.
You assume I've not thought of this and not stolen goggles and a full surgical clothing to wear under my FULL Samarai war gear! I'll admit its a bit iffy, but having never fired a gun in my life, my aim is probably a lot more iffy!
As effective as Samurai armour was at defense, I think you might find a full Samurai outfit unwieldy in an apocalyptic scenario where dexterity is one of your more definitive advantages.

What's worse is that the the general populace KNEW about the epidemic during the first outbreak, but eventually stopped caring as the news cycles moved on.
