thats only the number of character, not the number of accounts. I have 4 characters, only 1 of them is in inferno, the others are still act 1 normal. |

do you really need to have such a dickish attitude about it?
have you considered that maybe part of the problem with undergearing is that you require act 2 gear to complete act 1, act 3 to complete 2, and so on?
if you could legitimately farm hell for good enough items to solo inferno you would have a legitimate point. instead, you farm hell for gold to spend at the AH. if you wanna group, it's a bit different but you're still buying the best stats, it's just that since people in your group can specialize you can do more with less. |

Blizzard should really let us know what they consider "appropriate gear". My wizard in act 2 inferno has 30k hp, 29k damage (with a 2h weapon with over 1120dps) and over 250 resistance, with 12% movement speed increase, and I still find act 2 way too hard. This would be OK if I seriously thought I was a bit undergeared, but how can I feel undergeared when I have played act 3 coop with a friend and felt it was easier than act 2?
They should probably take a look at act 2s difficulty in comparision with act 3, and they would probably see that the enemy type makes a HUGE difference. For kiting styles, the snakes which go invisible, the fast crawling bastards in the sewers and such enemies are WAY harder than most other enemies, even with "crappy" modifiers, because they are too fast to kite, even with extra movement speed. |

It's not, but that's not a major issue since I would be killed in the same amount of hits if I had 40k. |

try being a monk with 650 all res 7k armor 45k hp and 30% dmg reduction over you as a class, and still getting 3 hitted |

Act 2 definitely I feel is the hardest act, even Belial himself is hardest of all.
The wasps, the cloaked snakes, the lacuni jumpers, the fast mobs in the sewers, etc. |

I agree with people like Sated and Tobberoth.
I'm still in Act 3 Hell, but the biggest challenge to me so far is the number of monster skills and elite mob modifiers that are just plain flat-out cheesy. Waller, Jailer, Teleport, Invulnerable Minions, Shielding are just some of the ones that are ridiculous. Reflect Damage does too much damage for how many hitpoints some of the mobs have. Arcane Enchanted is insane in caves and small corridors. Extra Fast on certain mobs is just certain death.
Some of the monsters skills are also cheesy. Those phase beasts in act 3 have way too many hitpoints and hit too hard for how often they can teleport. The tongue lashers in act 3 and the ghosts in act 2 have ranged attacks that can't be avoided. Those lacuni that are invulnerable during their jump attack, the snake deceivers that go invisible and the ultra fast moving accursed in act 2 are way harder than other enemies.
It seems to me that Blizzard was scared of how fast skilled players, especially ones playing ranged kiting classes, can clear the game even while undergeared. They went overboard in designing monster abilities that are impossible to dodge and impossible to kite. What happens is a straight up gear check where players have to pretty much kill mobs so fast before the mobs kill them. That's why skills that make you invulnerable for a few seconds are the most popular ones in inferno.

The problem with Inferno is still that in order to actually run through Act 1, you need gear that drops in Act 2, and to get through Act 2, you need Act 3 gear, and so on. It's completely unfeasible to farm Hell for Inferno gear. The only way, currently, to actually get through Hell/Inferno, is just to farm gold (which is dull, at best), and then cross your fingers in the AH.

That's how it's been at least since Hell...
The gear you need to survive is stuff you get from later Acts and that stuff you can attain from AH (from other people who are ahead of you already and selling their old stuff)Last edit: 2012-05-29 02:31:25 |

On the item side, I disagree with their approach on legendaries. I agree that perfectly or close to perfectly rolled rares should be the strongest items in the game, stronger than the best legendaries. However, weapon damage scales so fast while leveling that legendaries get obsolete fast. Even well rolled rares get obsolete fast.
Part of the fun in Diablo 2 was twinking new characters. The level requirement plus the fast scaling means that there's only a very small window of opportunity to use legendaries before they get obsolete quickly. There should be a middle ground between getting to equip end-game items such as amulets and rings on level 1 characters in Diablo 2 and the current Diablo 3 design of items, especially weapons, only lasting a few levels before they must be replaced.
I think weapon damage scales too quickly with levels as well. Once Blizzard fixes the elite/champion packs and overall damage of mobs in higher difficulties, they need to look at the weapon scaling as well. If I have to guess, weapon damage scaling led partly to this. There should be more playstyles that are successful other than kill mobs very fast before they can kill you. |

Anybody think it's kinda annoying having to beat 3 difficulties to get your character to inferno? I feel like after you've already been to inferno, you should get an option to just straight up make a 60 character of any class that's naked and you can equip whatever you've found on your normal 60 with it.
But then again that wouldn't be too good for new players trying out the game and being lonely until they get to the higher levels. Then it would just be like WoW. |

Legendaries are items that have a "set" item affixes and are randomized with just the actual number values.
Rares on the other hand are completely random with the item affixes. |

Yea the most-used runes seem to make no sense. When I read them i was like -wut-
This has given me hope that D3 will be slowly improved to something with replay value over time.

Most Legendaries have two or so completely randomized affixes as well, to be precise.Last edit: 2012-05-29 02:55:37 |

Oh yes lol.
Anybody know what's the maximum item affixes a Rare and Legendary can have? Set items excluded. |

Half of the gear that I'm using in act 1 inferno was farmed in the very same act, or obtained from hell difficulty. Trash white mobs get 1-2 shotted. The people who were undergeared were rushing to inferno using terrible items, that could easily be replaced by spending a few more hours farming, instead of going to the forums to complain it's blizz's fault that they're undergeared. |
