Hi Teamliquid!
I am now moving to USA and can't bring my whole computer because of limited luggage. I will try and bring my CPU, GPU, RAM and motherboard.
Current setup:
Intel i5 2500k Cooler Master Hyper 212 Radeon HD 5850 Kingston 1333mhz 8 GB RAM (2x4gb) Corsair 520w (Not sure if it's corsair, ha) Gigabyte P67A-D3-B3 (GOD this is awful for overclocking) HAF 932
So my question is what should I bring over and what should I leave behind for upgrading when I get to the US? Obviously I can't bring the case since it's huge. Maybe you guys know a good way to send my PC over so I can save a lot of money?
My budget is around $1000 but this is flexible. (Consider that I have to get monitors too, but that doesn't go into the $1000 budget)
What I have been looking at so far is: I kinda want something SLI. Is it worth it? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130595 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139022 Is it better to skip the second GPU and go for an i7 2600k upgrade? Since I already have a 2500k I don't know if it's worth it. Also any mid-size cases that you guys recommend? It has to fit my Hyper 212 though
PS: Playing on 1920x1080 on dual monitors (not playing the game on both, the second one for skype and stuff), will mostly stream SC2 and play any new games like diablo, bf3 etc.
Thanks for all the input and help!!

IMO, i5 2500k to 2600k is a big fat waste. If I were you, I'd upgrade the 5850 to a 670. And then go and buy myself a nice big SSD. No time to say in detail now, just my initial thoughts here.

I'm pretty sure you can get your entire system shipped to the US for much less than $1000. Why not just box it up real nice, and then put it in a suitcase to be checked-in?

Yeah i think it costs less than (or around) a 100 dollars to safely ship your entire PC to the US. Your build is solid so i wouldn't upgrade just yet.

If there's anything worth upgrading, it's your graphics card (and maybe an SSD).

Hammer, where would you get such cheap international shipping? Maybe my country just sucks, but I've found no service that would make it worth my while to ship a PC case or a monitor overseas, compared to just going over and buying new stuff. Last edit: 2012-05-29 08:19:02

Upgrade your RAM if you're into OC (they can limit your) and possibly only thing I'd change in that setup is GPU to a GTX670 and a SSD as mentioned before.

If you're against the idea of shipping it out, split it up and leave the tower case, and then rebuild with a new tower when you get out there? Seem s a bit of a waste to spend that much when you have a solid build that can be sent over for a lot less than buying a new one |
