So apparently there's a new game thats in early alpha and is free to play: Starforge.
It has elements from many contemporary games, including minecraft, TF2, starcraft, and halo.
You can mine through the ground, build fortresses, shoot things with machineguns, and drive vehicles. It's like the most awesome game i've seen in a while.
I'll be editing this OP more later to add content, right now it's 1 am.
Looks very alpha indeed, I can't imagine it being fun to play in this state, looks like the aiming is wonky and the movement seems stutery. That said, a brickforce (minecraft with CS style gunplay) style game with these graphics could be awesome.

Holy shit. I am impressed. I actually was looking at Minecraft's potential to do something like this but holy shit. It looks like they spent a crap load of time on this too. FREE TO PLAY TOO? HECK YES IM GETTING THIS.

It's about time someone took the core idea of minecraft and did something new with it. That said it doesn't seems worth playing yet since it is an alpha. Also it will be interesting to see if they can get all those systems to scale well with multiple players.

Why the heck do indie developers always have to be the ones making games like this? WTF is wrong with the mainstream game developers? Sure they like things they know sells and they like doing things for the moneys, but they should also know from all sorts of precedence that INNOVATION SELLS TOO!!

Brickforce is the exact same thing, and it's not made by indie developers, and it's already in beta which is insanely easy to get into.
