I'm on SC2, I'm playing the maps I like to play. I'm getting frustrated and bored because there's a lack of quality maps to choose from, this is especially true on the defense map front.
Is there some info I'm missing? Why haven't people been just copying the quality maps over from Broodwar? As far as I know, once the layout of the maps is complete, just the monotonous task of copying triggers manually is the only obstacle, right? If I had any knowledge of the editor, bringing life back to these maps would be my first task.
I saw Team Micro Arena is in beta, which I'm excited for, and I saw one or two impossible Scenarios maps floating around, but those two are just the tip of the iceberg.
The reason for this post is to hopefully light a fire under some mapmakers so that the SC2 community can see that the old classics are still relevant and fun.
Please help me with the SC2 BW UMS Map Renaissance!

if you want someone to texture/pretty up a map for some classic ums's i can do a few too. but i wont go near the triggers. (:
someone made an awesome scbw classic ums maps from back in the day in sc2, but i dont remember the name. in fact i think there is a thread around here somewhere, he even got the menus to look the the loading screen from bw. there was (dodge the rapist, and all sorts of great ones.) but yeah the sc2 custom games are the most dissapointing thing for me in sc2. i was looking so forward to them, after all the great wc3, and with a better engine and all that... they are so bad. though troncraft: rebirth is my fav.

The map editor is far more complicated than "copying triggers and laying stuff out". You can check out http://www.staredit.net and http://www.galaxywiki.net for information on how to use the editor, but compared to the SCBW editors, mapping is much harder. More powerful, but harder, which means there are fewer maps being made. Add to that the lack of an open games list (which is coming in 1.5 at last) and mappers have been really turned off.
If you want a good map to check out, try Dia blo:Mortal Shroud (yeah there's a space between Dia and blo due to Blizzard's censor). I don't think it's especially high on the pop list due to it being really hard to get a new map played but it's great fun.
Red classic | A butterfly dreamed he was Zhuangzi | The guy Nagisama has nightmares about.
There were a ton of great scbw custom maps, shame no one tries to copy them and make them popular even if some are really simple to make yet still very fun to play. I hope we will see a change in patch 1.5 for sc2.
I have been itching to play the original Lurker Defense
Also a remake of the classic Turret Defense in Space would be sick.
I started working on a 3rd person combat game, which actually works pretty well, so I have some knowledge of the trigger and data editor, but as it was stated it takes a whole lot more time and effort to work with Galaxy than the original SC editor.

I think someone was already on the turret defense. Search "Turret Defense 2011". Although if it's the one I'm thinking of with 4 spawns, I have yet to see anything close come out.
My wishlist: Mini SC Impossible Scenarios Team Micro Arena (**Without the Imba mothership it currently has.) Sunken Defense (Stacked spines would work.... I guess ) Star Cannon Defense Delea's Corruption RPG
The last one I forget the name of... spawning lane goes from right to left, and from left to right. Players spawn in divided sections on the top and bottom of the map. Different races are usable Hero units spawn after certain kills are achieved. Map had stacking. One of my favorite defense maps... lost into memory.
