NASL Update, TargA vs Polt
It's been a few weeks since we've caught up with Mindfreak's TargA. After a by in his NASL play last week, and a rather intense show match with Empire Kas earlier this week it's time for our Zerg hero to prepare for his final match of the NASL regular season. Hopefully he learned something in his best of nine ZvT this Thursday. Because TargA has a very scary opponent up ahead in TSL Polt.
We saw some interesting play out of TargA against Kas, including some very risky Roach Ling all-ins and perhaps more interesting, a quick Hydralisk Nydus rush which simply may have been ahead of its time. After seeing Hydras in play during the Heart of the Swarm battle report showcased at the ongoing MLG, we may see TargA's unique style develop after the expansions release. For now though we sit in the present moment. And presently, we find TargA's NASL opponent Polt, competing at MLG.
Of course when talking about a daunting opponent such as the GSL winning Polt, one has to count the upsides. A major bonus for TargA being that Polt is focused on performing well at MLG. He has another map pool on his mind, along with all other match-ups. TargA is practicing specifically for his match against Polt and is expected to be prepared as such.
Additionally, TargA is coming off a rather humbling loss against Kas(5-2) in their recent Pokerstrategy.com show match. Sure Kas is rank one GM in Europe right now, but Polt is a challenge of equal or greater value. With any luck the entire series was an opportunity for TargA to evaluate and adjust the way he plays his ZvT matches. Kas played his characteristically macro-centric style, I suspect Polt will do the same.
Of course only time will tell the tale. Polt's MLG tournament life permitting, the two will face off this Sunday during NASL Division Five play. If TargA has been peaking at the MLG stream he will have a heads up on how Polt will play their match and he will know what signs to look for during the games. Let us hope that TargA's recent show match loss was a positive learning experience, and that he shows up ready to play out the macro games.

hahaha yeah that is kind've unfortunate. >.< i'd love if he could get a stream up and running at some point.

Good luck to TargA, although he's not at Stephano's caliber so I don't see this match being very equal.
Best of 9, so I'm guessing 5-2 Polt if they both play standard. |

It's not so much money that is the problem, it is that he is not able to get a better connection the place he lives in Australia, which is really sad. He will maybe be moving soon though, and will hopefully be able to get better internet if he does so. |
