If that is true that is a fucking travesty of programming.
I had a long post, but really that sums it up. There is no excuse for trusting data the client sends you apart from complete and utter incompetance on so many levels. Its just as bad as sendign clients data they don't need or shouldn't have at that point in time as its just begging for someone to change a client to take advantage of it (which is why a mothership cloaking units you cant see on other side of map really shouldnt EVER lag you out yet alone asking for people to map hack you)
Design patterns - this has been solved by many many people many many times General distrust of clients data - because nobody has ever hacked a client Testing of code - to ensure that all requirements have been met Penetration testing - because you dont want to get hacked and want to know if you could be.
Given the kinds of problems and hacks that have been seen I am confident that the tech leads have given little or no thought to malicious users. In any other industry that would have serious repercussions. Seems like int he games industry everyone just laughs and moves on oblivious to the rest of the world because you are ripping off kids.

But remember, if you get hacked it's YOUR fault, because Blizzard's own security is 100% foolproof.
This would be embarassing for a mid level computer science student and a team of programmers at a billion dollar company screw up like this and nobody catches it?
Does anyone really doubt this game was just shoved out the door now?

Don't doubt it at all. Game's only been playable on *most* "supported" Macs (yes, macs are for losers, got it) since the most recent 1.02b patch...which came out, what, less than a week ago? Yeah. Pretty fail..

Oh wow, this is a new low for Blizzard, how can they even fuck it up this bad.

Could you please add custom auction timers? say I only want a 2 hour auction? or you could allow us to cancel our auctions at any point but make them in an hour from that point so long as there are no bids? I think this would help alleive alot of auction frustration.
Answer: (Jay): Allowing the cancelling of auctions is in patch 1.0.3 (OK, I'm 99% sure of that). We don't currently have plans to let you change times.
Umm so I just did this and awesome but what happens if someone bids on your item? Do they get their money back or does it glitch since this doesn't seem like it is "working as intended"
