I've got one small issue with MLG. For the past two Championship events... they've seeded Artist into Open Bracket Winners round 5 and he hasn't shown up to the event.
Why is this a problem? It means that whoever has him in their bracket path gets a free win into open winners 6... and whoever has him in the loser bracket path gets a free win to round 8 of loser bracket.
Secondly (and what happened last time). Because he's technically *IN* the bracket, he gets to be invited to the Arena qualifier. This means he'll be knocking other players out of the tournament even though he won't even attend MLG.
He basically qualified for the Arena, didn't go, but still got seeded into MLG, and didn't go, and it just made for a lame experience. That was one more deserving player who could have participated in this MLG but didn't get the chance to, and however many people he eliminated from the Arena qualifier.
It's a small issue, but I think it's important enough to bring up. I'm hoping he doesn't get invited to the next Arena qualifier because of his "placement" at this MLG (I wish I could get top 48 at an MLG I didn't even play in) |

Artist hasnt been able to come to any recent mlg events simply because he is teamless and doesnt have the funds atm. Seeing how RgN disbanded and then he along with the rest of the sc2 players that were on EC are simply no longer there because EC doesnt really seem interested in sc2.

That sucks, if people cant attend the event they should be removed from the bracket and replaced.

Because MLG likely won't change anything if one person voices their discontent. If, however, a LOT of people voice discontent, they will.

Absolutely. This isn't about Artist so much as it is about the MLG policy for handling seeded player who cannot attend. |

It's not his fault his team(s) fucked him over twice and he can't pay for his travel. RGN disbanded a month before Columbus and he was teamless, and then Eclypsia decided they didn't want to support him anymore so he can't make it to this one either.
edit: I should clarify I do agree that it's dumb that MLG didn't replace him with someone else in the bracket, I just don't want people to think Artist is flaky or something like thatLast edit: 2012-06-11 04:02:24 |

| Wow, what a strange thing to happen.... The people who get the seeds from Arena get an automatic entry into the next arena qualifier, regardless of whether they turn up to the interim MLG? I guess it kinda makes since, but him taking up open bracket spots and giving people free wins is goofy. |

@OP...You seem to be angry/upset about something else than this. I mean, if you worded your post like 'why couldn't MLG find a replacement' id be ok. But your acting like the Artist chose to do this. I'm 100 percent sure he'd rather be their then where he is. |

| I think this is a good thing to bring up but also that people shouldn't necessarily focus on Artist himself. There are reasons he's not attending that aren't relevant to this discussion. What's important is that MLG is allowing there to be a void in their bracket so late in the competition, it shouldn't happen. |

| It is sort of strange. There were other players from the MLG Area who qualified for seeds in Winner's Round 5, but declined their invitation and were removed from the bracket. It deserves some explanation as to why Artist wasn't removed. Is it possible that he indicated that he was going to attend but then didn't show up? |
