Wasn't sure whether to post this in the technical support forum or here. Ran across this issue today. Brief overview is that I am having trouble opening my map files and then further trouble trying to publish them (as in I can't).
Shortcut to the Solutions: + Show Spoiler +*Please note that I have not personally test all of these solutions -- I will be marking which ones I have tried to test with an *.
Solution 1. Open Map file, Close map editor, restart editor and re-open map file.
Solution 2. With Map file open, login to Battle.Net as if you are about to publish, and then log out.
*Solution 3. With map file open, under the file menu, open Dependencies, and using the 2 arrows at the bottom of the dependencies window, re-order your dependencies. Press "OK". Save your map file under a new name (as simple as adding a numerical identifier like the number 1 (Or other) should suffice). Exit the editor. Re-open the editor and open your map file, and go to publish the map. (Successfully Tested)
*Solution 4. Delete the folders automatically created in the cache folders of your Blizzard file folder. The following are the 2 paths (please note I have only tested the first of these). Secondarily note that these paths are only accurate for Windows 7 64-bit. I will try and update for Vista and XP as soon as possible but cannot guarantee this.
C:\ProgramData\Blizzard Entertainment\Battle.net\Cache
C:\ProgramData\Blizzard Entertainment\StarCraft II\Maps\Cache
Long Story Was working on a map file today and I got curious about the Starcraft II Arcade Beta 1.5. I downloaded and installed it, and then proceeded to run it. During set-up, it asked me to choose between 2 settings "SC-II 1 and SC-II 2".
I chose SC-II 1, and then I went into the Arcade Beta and looked around in it for a bit. I then quit that, and went back into my normal Starcraft II game to continue testing one of my maps.
I exited Starcraft II (non-beta version) and tried to open my map file to mess with it a little and re-publish for further testing. This is the first problem I ran into.

I solved this problem by right-clicking on my map file, doing an "Open With" operation and browsing to the non-beta's Starcraft II - Map Editor program, and applied it to opening all similar files (so that it would open any others I decided to work on today obviously). This solved my first problem.
I fiddled with the map and proceeded to try and publish it. Where-in I encountered the following issue.

I am officially stuck on this step. I have tried deleting and re-applying the dependencies. It would not let me delete my dependencies. I do not think I am missing any folders in my Starcraft II folder.
After running into this, I uninstalled the Beta version, and tried again (thinking that might do it) but this has not fixed it. I know there are beta files sitting in the documents folder still (where screenshots are saved etc. . . -- but it is being unused as the base program connection is now missing from my understanding).
If anyone has any ideas or can help, I would truely appreciate it. I know I am not the only person with this issue as there was 1 other (at least) over at the official battle.net forums Battle Net Topic. For clarification, I am "Odysseus".
If this is in the wrong section, I apologize -- I thought fellow mappers would be the best ones to answer it probably.Last edit: 2012-06-15 12:26:08 |

Have you tried to log out and log back in on the "publish" screen
I just checked and had the same problem. Logging out and logging back in fixed the problem for me. |

Hay Namrufus -
Thanks for the recommendation. I actually solved it just by re-ordering the dependencies. Saving the map. And then publishing it. Hope this helps anyone else who has this issue in the future. |

Bumping this because I am having this issue out of the blue, for all of my maps - including ones that I have published in the past and I haven't changed. i tried re-logging in, re-ordering the dependancies, deleting and redoing the dependancies, uninstalling the SC2 beta, and running repair on SC2.
I also tried everything in that battlenet thread, except "Delete the map cache folders." because I don't know where those are.
Am I the only one who can't fix this with a simple restart/re-order? |

I'm also getting this issue with all my maps. They're standard Melee maps with just the default dependencies but it says that I'm missing "Teams 01" and "Liberty (multi)". I cannot delete and re-add them, and reordering them does not work. I have not even installed the Arcade Alpha so that can't be it.
What is the exact filepath of the map cache files? I don't want to screw something up by deleting the wrong files in my ignorance. |

I did a search for it and I have 2 possible paths for you to try Coppermantis.
If you delete the files in these 2 folder paths, your caches should be cleared. Both may require an update by Battle.net and/or a repair but it should update the folders correctly upon opening the program(s) associated with that folder. I just tested it myself, and my map opened fine and I was allowed to publish.
The first path I would try is the following
C:\ProgramData\Blizzard Entertainment\Battle.net\Cache
and the second path I would try is similar
C:\ProgramData\Blizzard Entertainment\StarCraft II\Maps\Cache
These paths are good for Windows 7 64 bit. If this is not your platform, try doing a "search" for Cache and sort through the files listed with paths falling under either Blizzard Entertainment or Starcraft 2.
After you do either one of these (or both), open the editor first. And then using the Editor's "File -> Open", open your map file. Immediately following this I suggest saving the map under a different name (even a numeral identifier should work), and then after making sure you are ready to publish (i.e. check lighting map status, player properties, etc. . .) -- try and publish it. I will update the OP for any other persons who need to utilize this thread. These are the solutions I have been made aware of and I cannot tell people how to identify which method will work for them other than trial and error at this time.Last edit: 2012-06-15 12:27:01 |
