We thought that organizing a tournament for lower leagues on the Kr could interest many people (the expats living in korea mostly). So we decided to repost the tournament announcement here to make sure the interested wouldn't miss it, hoping for the best (and not the ban).
Thanks a lot for your support.

So here is our contribution to esports. It is small but pretty big to us. We tried to put up our Courage together to bring up tournaments for players living in Korea, but in the lower leagues. People like us who lived in Korea for years (more than 8years personally), have a job, a family and sometimes a Dog (I don't), do not have enough time to train hard but still want to spice it up with something else than ladder and the few friends we have on SC2 Korea. Here is an opportunity to have fun, win prices& tournament, make new friends, and set up real goals at SC2 just like higher leagues or pro-gamers.
Koreign Tournament is mainly aiming at Foreigner/English Speakers living in Korea playing and loving starcraft 2. It is right now limited to Silver/gold. It will be a monthly tournament played on Saturday nights (KST). We spent quite some time to give it a bit of production and shininess. However, just make it clear right now, it’s a very very small team at the moment, so we could make mistakes; however, we are ready to pay for it and build it better and Stronger. Bottom Line, we do this for the fun and we are really more than excited to do this.
All information can be found here: http://www.koreign.com and following is a summary of all important information:
First edition: Koreign Tournament July Registration: From now until Sunday, Jul 01 2:00pm GMT (GMT+00:00)

Tournament Format: - Single Elimination - Bo3 regular matches, Bo5 for finals. - Maximum number of 32 players (Cause We are still learning) - Main platform Binarybeast.com
Some of the Rules (important to note)
+ Show Spoiler +Eligibility: - age 16+ year old - Starcraft 2 account on the Korean server. - Silver/Gold league (there are detailed rules for that, and of course suspicious accounts will be rejected). - Living in Korea (This is important if you want to register or receive the prices). - Speaking English (to some extend: We'd like to interview and maybe co-cast with some players).
Entry fee: - We ask for a 10,000 KRW fee (through Korean Banks only). - See website for registration procedure.
Price: - Every Player gets a Koreign T-shirt (made in Korea, designed by us). - Various prices for finalists: premium massage and cinema tickets. - 100,000 KRW for the Winner (maybe more if we can afford it).
Map pool: - Current ladder maps. - First game map are imposed at each round. Loser picks the next map. A map cannot be played twice in a single Match.
We hope many people will join the fun, It will just motivate us to grow Koreign Stronger. Thanks a lot for reading guys. Check out the website.

Just out of curiosity what does silver/gold league on KR equate to on NA?

Hi ! i am definitely in. Ladder is too quite here (aside from "ㅈㅈ" not much to talk about), and it is hard to meet new foreign players of my level.
CaptainCharisma, i would say 1 level above NA. I am gold in Korea, and on EU i was ranked platinum.

Who knows, for us is mostly a matter of where you leave (or releave from the lag ^^). There might be a slight difference, as I asked that same question sometime ago, but maybe not an entire league shift. It felt tougher for me to get started on the Kr server since i don't have much time to train and korean at any age play a shit ton anywhere anytime (PC bang).

Personally I can get out of my House cause I have a baby. Sat night is drinking while being slaughtered by korean highschool playing in pcbang.

Please tell me we are more than 3 English speaking ppl on Korean ladder :-) This tournament is actually a great way to gather players here who are not at the highest level, but who still really enjoy playing !

As someone who has played on KR, US, SEA ... it really is no difference. In every league before diamond, I was facing players who would attack me with 6 stalkers off 2 base @ 15 minutes. The only competent players I face were in TvT later. And protoss allins against terrans..but thats high plat/diamond. Everything below as shockingly bronze.

I'm a plat NA, but silver on KR. Although I haven't played KR in a long while, so who knows if I've improved. There is waaaaaaaaay more cheese in KR though, that's for sure. So until you really learn how to handle it properly, your MMR will take a serious hit below where it might actually be.

I am also surprise by the low rate of response so far. The community of koreigner's playing in Korea isn't speaking very loud ^^.

Ho that's to bad, i didn't played my placement for the new season yet but i'm pretty sure i will place above gold Anyways i'd love to help you in any ways possible i'm going to shoot you and email today or tomorrow.
If you really want to make a tournament for lower leagues and don't have enough players, maybe you should consider opening a second one for platinium to master league ?
|
Why no bronze players? If you are worried about tanked accounts, a good player with a bronze account could easily get it up to silver or gold anyways so I don't see how limiting it actually offers a solution other than restricting potential competitors.
