First, let me say I wasn't sure where to post this and this eemed as good as anywhere. If it belongs in blogs, so be it,=.

Hello TeamLiquid

After playing SC2BW maps on sc2 (which if you don't know is basically Brood War settings and rules in sc2, like 12 max unit selection, no autocasting, 4 scvs at start, smaller screen), i've decided to try and play bw.

However, I have a few questions about the game.

First, is the iCCup download for BW safe? http://www.iccup.com/starcraft/sc_start.html

I can't tell, and because it's hosted on like a Russian site im kind of hesitant to download, is hosted on .ru because its a pirated copy?

Second, I want to play zerg, and I have a grasp of the mechanics but not the strategy. Is the BW strategy guides in liquipedia relevant? And are there any guides on how to play lategame Zerg? I litterally dont understand anything to do with unit composition except in early to Midgame TvZ.

Third, are there any really good streamers for zerg or youtube videos etc that I could learn from? It would be much appreciated.

Iccup is completely legit. you wont get a virus but your antivirus might detect it fishy, ignore it. some antivirus trip the warnings for some reason, its a false alarm dont worry. There are many streamers to learn from just browse the broodwar streams. 12 hatch is the most standard intro. late game your working towards ultralisk, crackling, and defiler combo with nydus canals connecting your far bases. gl and welcone to brood war!

Welcom to BW!

1/ The download is safe, I use it as well since I can't find my cd laying around here anywhere. Set your language on the topright of the iCCup.com site to english and you will see nothing of a russian domain anymore if that bothers you!

2/ I would start with the liquipedia guides, normally they should be very relevant. Do not underestimate the mechanics though, in BW those are very important and still will take some time getting used to.

3/ I think most people who still stream BW are pretty decent level. Since I do not follow the stream to much I do not know all of them, but for example Zaraki is a strong zerg streamer.

Good luck and have fun!

It's safe. The site is known as the Abyss and has other private servers. The private battle.net servers are under the name of Iccup.

About Iccup, the copy is not really legal I guess, but Blizzard officially doesn't care (they twitted about TSL2 ladder on Iccup). Some antivirus don't like bw as a whole but that's ok.
Liquipedia for zerg is sufficient for a complete begginer but it's both outdated and incomplete. Once you have learned a bit with it, try to think by yourself and ask questions though.
For streams, Michael is the strongest zerg that you can watch on TL, but other featured are pretty good too (Bakuryu and Zaraki <3). If he plays on Iccup, he's usually cheesing a lot and messing around though (often with offraces too).
Still I'd advise you to watch a few pro VODs just to get a feel of the match ups. There are many threads lying around and liquipedia/TPLD is your friend for this.
