If he goes to fnatic they literally instantly become my new favourite team. Oz and Genius on the same team? :D

Foreign teams tend to have bigger sponsors, or simply MORE sponsors, so they have the ability to pay more.

The pay isn't the biggest thing for them I think because the team will pay them like 1k a month which is infinitely better than nothing. The free travel to foreign events is amazing and the real attraction for Koreans.

Oh, well yes, of course. I didn't realize we were at the point where we are including the KeSPA teams now when we discuss Foreign teams vs. Korean teams.

huge salaries for the star players. I'm not sure what the average salary is though.

And its a bit too soon to bring up Kespa teams as they can't sign current sc2 pro's for a year.

I know some Korean sc2 teams pay salary, like TSL and IM, not sure if there are any others.

Thank god it's not EG. It's just not funny if EG is on constant hunt to buy players. No hatred here, it's just not good for fans imho.

With EG being my favourite team I'm always excited to see them with a new player, doesn't matter who it is really. Don't know why you'd think that.

The last thing we should be rooting against is competition over player contracts, that's the only way that SC2 is going to become a better option as a full time profession. Players switching teams, or some teams buying out contracts and becoming "The Yankees" of SC2 is at worst a necessary evil. As far as the fans are concerned, if Genius joins a foreign team he'll most likely remain in the GSL/GSTL but also have the opportunity to travel to more foreign tournaments.

IMO it doesn't negatively affect the fans or competition at all, in SC2 there are plenty of teams with good players and no team has been able to use money to push itself way ahead of the competition. MVP isn't close to crumbling as a result of poaching. And even if EG got both Genius and Stephano, they could become a GSTL contender as a separate team but certainly not the clear favorite.

If we start to see many of the world's top players on one team then I think sure, we have reason to complain. Otherwise, I think it's good for the pro scene and I don't understand this presumption that somehow pro players are obligated to stay with the team that originally signed them.

No I agree with you. I am just talking about how his argument is hypocritical in the first place.

Thank you, it's nice seeing logic for once lol. Although I am not a big fan of genius and don't want him on EG, and I never cared for fnatic since they are pretty much a korean only team like fxo.

ya sometimes i kick back and think to myself, back in my day we had foreign teams with foreigners on them -.-
i am happy to see the highest level of competition at more tourneys though, can't complain about that.
in a perfect world (for me) korean teams would have equal footing [salary wise] with foreign ones and thus be able to retain their players better
edit: ^ and send them to places like MLG and DH.
