Since I remember there being threads like this at the start of previous seasons, I figured I would make one for this season as well. If this isn't allowed any more, then I apologise in advance.
Season 8 has officially started, and with it comes a new batch of placement matches! Although most of us are going to get put back into the same division we were in last season, it seems fitting that the people who do get promoted have a chance to boast about it without seeming too self-entitled. That is what this thread is for.
At the same time, to prevent this becoming a massive circle-jerk about promotions, I think we should also talk about what aims we have for the coming season (if any). For some people, the target might be as broad as "get promoted", but I'm sure we can come up with much more specific (and therefore, easier to fix) problems that we have with our play. Identifying problems is the first step towards improving!

I personally got placed back into Diamond, which wasn't a surprise to me since I didn't really play enough ladder games last season to warrant a promotion. Still, I was pretty happy when I saw the score screen because my opponent was a Masters player. Steps in the right direction, clearly!

My personal targets for this season:
- Spend Chronoboost on upgrades better: This might seem like a weird target, but I always find that my Chronoboost usage on upgrades is haphazard at best. I've found that counting to ten in my head after using a Chronoboost and then going back to Chronoboost again helps me immensely, so I'm going to try to keep doing that.
- Get better at minimap awareness: I get dropped far too often by Terran players and lose to run-bys far too often against Zerg players. In fact, it's not only my minimap awareness that needs improving as I also need to get better at controlling map-space instead of passively sitting in my base macro'ing up (which is always a really tempting option when you play Protoss).

I have yet to play my placement match, but I did reset my ladder last season (knowing diablo 3 was coming out) for a fresh start (was mid-masters Zerg). Will do that today, hope it goes well.

| I was a little bit disappointed with my performance post season 7. Was on an incredible winning streak and then dropped it completely as the season transitioned, so I wasn't too surprised to see myself back in diamond. Played well over 200 games and won about 197. Hope to actually win over 200 this season and hopefully get that ever elusive masters promotion. |

have to say, last season I played 10+ matches every day i was free in an attempt to get out of plat... I managed to get to #1 reasonably quickly and then was locked in the top 8 for most of the season, I'd play against many diamonds, infact most of my games where to diamonds... and I won about half my games.... but I never got promoted, and just started to hit a wall of loosing every game, regadless of who I'd play against, vs P/T and my weakest match up vs Z.. I seem unable to win a single game, out of my last 20 I think i won about 2, and one of those was a D/C...
S8 starts and I loose my first 3 games in a row and not only stay in plat, but am now stuck in low/bottom plat, so I've decided to quit 1v1. Clearly, for what ever reason I'm not good enough or even close to good enough to play a game. Even my strongest match-up PvT I fuck up and I have no clue how to play against Z's who can build and do as they like and win doing any stupid random shit.

Ended up 600+ Diamond last season. Played my placement match last night and although I lost it, I still placed Diamond. Not disapointed because I felt I wasn't ready for Masters yet. Still went on a sick win streak (something like 18-4 during the lockdown) so I expect the losses to start piling in shortly. 
My personal goals are :
- Get to 900+ or start facing Masters towards the end of the season
- Work better on my creep spread. Some games I do very good creep spread but at other times I feel like I am 'too lazy' to even bother doing it. Probably lost a few of my games because of that.
- Start learning new build orders. I have been very successful lately with this early upgrades very aggressive mutalisk + zergling build I played around with. Not as strong as I hoped it would be once I get late-game.
- Better overlord placement around the map. I'm usually good at this at the start of the game but once I enter mid-game I seem to forget to place overlords at every expansion to monitor my opponent.

My goal is to settle in top platinum with decent macro.
I'd like to remain calm in zvz and try to find an effective way of dealing with standard protoss 2-base all-ins.

| I would love to get out of plat, but I don't see that happening any time soon. I think for this season, I'd like to play more (been on a bit of a hiatus) and try to just get to top plat. Shoot for dia next season. The new MMR tool for gears is great though, definitely lets me know about where I am relative to promotion |

You never get promoted if you got 50% win ratio , like you write.

I was rank 2 in diamond , 3 days before new seson , but then i lose like 15 games and win only 2-3 , so i was rank 8 when new seson start. Im doing really good at ZvT and ZvP and lose 70% of my ZvZ , but im still playing.. its only game nothing more , or maby you wanna be pro players , then its other story.

I just wanna have minimum 150 league wins , like every seson . Be actvie in game , and skill will go up with time  , just play , more gg = more skill ;D |

Goal is Diamond.
According to the MMR tool I ended last season near the Diamond treshold but encountered a stuid amount of all-ins and cheese on the last day of ladder lock, going down a few points under the platinum treshold.
Personal Goals:
Handle cheese and all-ins better (this one is obviously extremely nessesary)
Creep spread! Its just abysmal at the moment, even with 4 Queens I just manage to connect bases.
Getting more comfortable in TvZ as this is my worst MU. I constantly feel I cant drone safely and get cäught offguard by weird builds or the usual 2 port banshee (never could hold this one even if I scouted it and prepared in time)
Overlordplacement. Its getting better but often I just forget.

Well I finally finished high school last week, so I finally have time to play more games everyday to improve!
I had been playing a lot of Masters (even ones in Top 8!) by the end of Season 7, but during my placement match, I won, and was placed back into Diamond (Had about 630+ points last season). 8-2 to start off the new season, 3-1 against Masters level players, so I've been feeling really confident about my play.
My goals for this season are to vastly improve in my PvT, which has been horrid the last few seasons and to ladder at least 10 games per day, or 50 games per week. This way, I can actually see how much I can play on a weekly basis and get some rough estimates on how to improve! |

I won about 70% of my matches for about a month, and then I seemed to hit a wall and have never recovered... and now I cannot win any game and I manage to play like total shit every game... so whats the point? |

| Season 6 I got out of Bronze but didn't play enough and so for 7 was dumped back down again. After a race change and some improvements I'm hoping to be back in Silver again and give it a better go. |

Season 7 for my first season playing SC2, so i had a great deal to learn! Tried out each of the races and finally settled on Zerg the latter half of the season. Never managed to get out of bronze, but finished top 8 in my league!
Played my placement match this morning.......and i got promoted to Silver!  I know its not a big deal to most, but i was over the moon to see the silver symbol flash up! It shows that i have developed over the two months i have been playing. Im hoping to start laddering tonight, but also have the simple task of more placement matches in my regular 2v2 teams.
Aims for the season are:--
---Secure promotion to gold for season 9. This is my overall aim, everything else is hopefully leading to this.
--Develop my macro! I have worked hard in developing my macro game, and have been following filtersc's fantastic vids. I can run a very strong 2 base Roach push (not all in) but i need to develop after this.
--Gain an understanding of the Zerg late game. A lot of my losses have come once the game gets passed the 16 minute point. After hitting hard with Roaches, i simply dont know which tech route to comfortably go in each match up to put me in the best possible position.
--Play in a tournament or two! Ive found a few tourneys which are run for B/S/G leagues and i plan on giving some a go. I know SCV Rush is a well attended tourney and ive seen ESL running some now as well. Hopefully i will have the confidence and knowledge to be able to hold my own and who knows, i may be fortunate enough to get a game casted! |

| I want to get mid master this season at the least ive been practicing a lot and I think I can reach it if I keep going as I am. Its funny after each game I look at my APM compared to other players and im hitting like 150 average and everyone else im playing in diamond is at like 100 so im definitely fast enough I think. My ZvT is kinda holding me back though because im not really the best with dealing with heavy drop harass but ive been macroing a lot better and just getting spores and a few spines and doing ok vs that now so hopefully ill get promoted mid season |

I've just played my placement match and, as I expected, got placed in platinum. Yay! :D
This season I am switching from Zerg back to my favourite race, Terran. I abandoned it after season 6 (my first season in SC2), because it was soooo frustrating to see all my marines evaporate in 1 second as I looked away to build a supply depot. I feel that my map awareness and multitasking have improved quite a bit during the last season, so now I'll try again. I will also have a shot at things like simultaneous drops and marine splitting. So, my goals for this season:
- learn to play Terran as it should be played
- hold my place in plat |

Back into diamond after going Master -> diamond -> Plat when changing from Z to T.
This season objective mid/high diamond.
Perfect macro and starting to play bio terran vs Z. Oh yeah and no more loosing ghosts to feedbacks!

| I had a pretty big loose streak when i started to ladder again after a month of pause. To the end of the season i managed to recover from it and im aiming to get to high master at the end of the season (mid master atm). I think my mechanics are good enough, but im very bad at defending chesse and microing, so im definetly going to work on that, as well as my TvZ, wich is pretty bad after the queen buff. |
