First of all I need to say that I have read the Streaming Problem Thread .
Hello guys, I`m Bogdan and I like to play Starcraft2 (Fullscreen), but I have a few problems with broadcasting My configuration is : Q6600 2.4GHz 4Gb of RAM GeForce 8800GT BFG OC 512Mb RAM and I`m using Win7 and I have good internet connection. I am using 2 monitors. I can play with 60FPS on 1900x1080 with medium details ( but when 200/200 fights i have like 20 FPS), so I play like 1440x900 with med-low details for perfect performance. But when I run XSplit CPU goes 90%+ and I simply can`t play. You can see on my last recording that screen even flashes ( on playback ) http://www.twitch.tv/powerhousesc/b/321091251
About XSplit Settings : I selected region - The 1080p monitor and synced with my TwitchTV Channel. I selected some output resolutions and it still goes 90%+ CPU... I would like to stream 360-480 or 720p.
Is it possible to do that ? Or I simply can't stream ?
Thank you for your time, Bogdan |

That processor is pretty outdated, I think you would be able to stream in 720p without having serious lag issues. You should also change you desktop resolution to the same you play SC2 with, it should be less demanding for you CPU.
I recommend you try limiting it to 360p just to check how is the performance you get in 200/200 battles and the slowing increasing the quality until you find out which config fits best your hardware. |

Tips -Play SC2 at your native monitor resolution (seems to be 1080p) -Overclock your CPU -Stream in a resolution that is the same ratio as your native monitor resolution (i.e. 1280x720 or 640x360) -Make sure your SC2 CPU settings (i.e. Physics and Reflections?) are set to lower settings -Make sure your Xsplit settings are optimized to make the best of your CPU usage (i.e. 20 FPS uses roughly 33% less resources than 30 FPS or using the proper preset) |

Should I make additional settings on XSplit ? Other than basics one ?
I think the main problem is the processor but still..it has 4 nucl. of 2.4GHz. |

SC2 alone will eat up 2 cores. The CPU is the problem. Although it's a quad-core, it's old and isn't as powerful as new CPUs. Even newer quad cores will struggle playing / streaming SC2.
This is what I would try, before overclocking. -Set SC2 to your native resolution (1920x1080p it seems like) -Set SC2 CPU settings to the low -Set Xsplit settings to preset: default capture resolution: 640x360 fps: 20 bitrate: 1500
If that works good, then go to the next highest capture resolution with the same ratio as your native resolution (I think it's 854x480?), and then finally 1280x720 (I don't think it will be capable of doing 720p without a major overclock).Last edit: 2012-06-13 23:33:36 |

I don't think you can stream past 240p if you want to keep decent (>30) framerates. I've tried streaming with a Yorkfield processor @ 3.0, which is faster per clock and in terms of clock than your processor, and 360p was the best I could get with some pretty iffy framerates.
Also, you need to run in fullscreen windowed to get rid of the flashing. |

Just use a faster preset. I believe "Default" is "faster" so try Superfast or Ultrafast. They lead to a lower quality stream, but you can raise your bitrate to compensate. Preset, resolution, and frame rate all make a huge huge huge difference in CPU usage. I can stream at 100fps and 1080p at Fast preset but my cpu is crippled by any settings on Slower above 20 fps, for example.
Try 20 FPS, 480p, and VeryFast.
Also, we have no idea what your bitrate is... |

Bogdan, simply put , your current configuration doesn't allow for a decent streaming resolution and snappy sc2 gameplay, hell, I've seen white-ra (who streams on 1080p) having around 20fps in big fights, and he does have a "beast" PC. Rule of thumb, stick with lower sc2 resolution and lower quality stream settings. If you want I can help you test streaming settings. |

Hello guys, I have made some tests : First of all I started to play in Fullscreen Windowed mode.
After I went for the Fastest profile, with 20FPS, and 1500bitrate. I saw that CPU is a little bit lower but unfortunately not lower enough... when I fight with mass zerlings/marines/roaches/etc I can t control my units very well
What I don`t understand is : How that my stream on 360p looks soooo damn crappy and when I see someone`s 360p stream it looks so good. What settings should I change ? Or is because I don t have XSplit PRO ? |

Try enabling "Special Optimization" for SC2.
In your xsplit window, right click SC2 and it should be in those optiosn somewhere.
The reason your stream looks so bad is because the faster preset you use, the lower quality your stream is. You should use the slowest preset you can use without affecting your gameplay. |

The factors that affect your steam visual output are:
<Affected by CPU> Quality: 10, 9, 8, etc. (the higher the better) Preset: Default, slow, slower, fast, etc. (the slower the better) Resolution: this is self explanatory (the higher the resolution the better) FPS: the higher the FPS the better (although usually anything over 20 FPS gives marginal improvement)
<Affected by Internet> Bit rate: the higher the better (1500-2000 is pretty good for 720p)
Basically, I would do a 360p stream with about 1500 bit rate, 10 quality, and 20 FPS.
Edit: NVM, I tried these settings and the stream sucks. I can't even read text. I'll do some more testing. But initial thoughts are that there is really only so much you can do with a 360p stream. You're taking 1080p and condensing it. It didn't even use up 1500 bit rate (I think xsplit averaged at like 300). 10 Quality is already max. The only thing to upgrade is preset (I had it on default). I highly doubt this would do anything. 480p at default settings would probably look a lot better anyways.Last edit: 2012-06-14 07:14:49 |

using ffsplit I get 50+ fps on a q6600 stock while streaming. you can try it out, its still in beta http://www.ffsplit.com/
UPDATE:set affinity cores 1, 2 for sc2.exe cores 3,4 to ffmpeg.exe
Ultrafast preset 1500kbps 845*480 frame rate 20 Audio 96 kbps Stereo

Updates : My video card got some problems : One output got broken i guess because one monitor looks blueish. I tried to fix it but it is not working.. so I put my old Video card wich is an 2600HD XT from ATI with 256mb . Now I barely think I will play decent SC2
@Bob, I tried FF but I can t make it work. I set up Stream (streamkey+etc) like in the guide and it s not going live but in the debug consile it says that I m live..

Did you make sure the connections on both sides of the cable (on the computer, and on the monitor) are connected tight?
If it isn't tight, it can cause this weird color offset thing like you are describing. |

I experienced this problem like two weeks ago, and it was fixed auto.. I tried to connect them wery tight, but no results.
With the same connections I mounted the 2600xt and works just fine. |
