The micro intensive part, LOVE IT! as people who aren't used to RTS, i guess it could seem hard (or even be "hard") at first to micro 3 units, but [most of] us starcraft players should find it no problem X)
Wow, it took that long for necromonicon to be limited? The pirate guy may be old now, but it seems like yesterday when he was put into the game (ofc not literally lol).
I mean, did it seriously take that long for teams to abuse necromonicon like that? Or was it also used before, but this is the most notable game of it, or...?
that necronomicon video got me wondering, are damage types still present in Dota2?? the video talks about damage done by the units, but obviously the archer has piercing attack type which does less to hero armor units.

5 necro strat was done as soon as it was put into the game. thankfully it was nerfed (an overreaction to say the least) soon after as it was even stronger than now.

You mean after the restriction on necrobooks got lifted, right? Only 3 necrobooks, only 3 euls + 1 hex. Something like that?

It was total of 2 euls and hexes (so you could have 2 hexes or 1hex 1 eul or 2 euls). That was in time when eul got charges and was one of items required to make hex. It also got silly cooldown and longer duration. Probably too strong eul was reason for this limitation. I don't remember exactly necro limitation, but wasn't it 2 also? (btw there was time when tinker could rearm necro :D)
Worth to note that it was ofc only tournament rule, nothing was enforced by game itself. Good that times where tournaments got to make such rules (no item pooling, no backdoor, etc.) are long over.

^ Probably, I only know there were restrictions on some items from Luminous mentioning it on some of his videos. Tinker rearm on necro sounds ridiculously OP.

Well, not as OP as rearming BKB (old one, without charges, with constant duration and cd throu the game ). There was some sily things in IceFrog DotA, and it's relatively recent.
On the item limit, meka used to be great item, when there was no stupid limit
Healing does not affect any units that have been healed by Restore in the last 25 seconds.
Imagine team fights with 3-4 of these.
Anyway I like how IceFrog is balancing game so no stupid "you can make only 1 xxx item per team" hard limitation are needed.
