Hi all,
I lost yet another TvP to collosi/ht. I think I did fairly well in having vikings when I needed them and having ghosts when I needed them. I even killed upwards to 70 probes with my nukes!! Yeah I didn't drop as much but he had cannons everywhere. My first push where I tried to use marines to snipe his collosi was rather stupid but I held off his counter push without taking any damage so no real harm was done. I noticed at the very end of the game that my gas was way up there, but I didn't have too too many scvs mininig gas anyway. I mined more resources than him almost the entire game so that wasn't the real issue. Even when I won fights I just couldn't finish him off.
Replay is here. http://drop.sc/197556
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Both of us are diamond by the way. |

Losing those early marines cost you big. You can't expand safely because of that. Sentries can't do much damage to medivacs so simply pick those marines up and flee. Also don't drop at the natural which is in proximity to where you fought.
Luckily your opponent had 3K minerals when he attacked with a few sentries, zealots and colossi. Double starport at this point in the game is a waste. You did not utilise the second starport much anyway. Instead invest in a ghost academy/quicker 4th/more rax.
Attacking that 3rd with your whole army was poor choice. Instead you should have sent a few units to attack the forward gateways and prepare your army in a concave below his natural. That would have given you the perfect position the kill the protoss.
Nukes were interesting but if you send one ghost to do a nuke it will most likely get caught. Use nukes as a distraction or in conjunction with drops or a frontal attack where his attention is focused on something else. I did see you do this in the later stages of the game so good job.
On this map a planetary+nuke strategy is very good. Your nukes did a lot of damage but you also took damage by losing your army again and again and losing bases. A planetary at the middle would have kept your bases very safe while giving you the opportunity to do a lot of damage with drops. |
