Counter-Strike was the game that got me into eSports, which is funny because StarCraft was my first addictive game on the PC. I played the game (casual and competitively) for maybe 6 years or so. It was a blast, but also frustrating. It sucks to see how the game is today. After the collapse of CGS, the North American CS scene never fully bounced back. There were moments that were great for North America, but it never got back to the strength of North America before CGS started. I know that Europe did fine while this was going on since they had the most events going on. I got a beta invite to CS:GO since it started and I am not a fan even now.

it peaks in the top3 everyday. sometimes #1, sometimes not. so what?
It's not in the top 3 today.
Just pointing it out.
it is.. it peaked in the top3 .... it's not so much played in the US. it's biggest in EU/RU and thus has lower numbers now.
Top 3 today is;
40,661 61,328 Football Manager 2012 39,946 55,420 Team Fortress 2 39,083 52,847 Dota 2
It does not say Counter Strike anywhere.
top3 peaks:
40,661 61,328 Football Manager 2012 39,946 55,420 Team Fortress 2 32,088 53,825 Counter-Strike
true story.
yea, maybe i'm cheating a little bit here, but 1.6 isn't as famous in the USA as it is in EU/RU. so it'll always have less players at these hours.
The peak is from TODAY.
I assume that one day is 24 hoursr in the United States, yes?
?
you have to differentiate between the peak number and the current number of players. at first i talked about peak, then i explained why the current number isn't top3 anymore.
you sound like you try to misunderstand me deliberately. lol..
Current number of players playing Counter Strike on Steam: 24,223 Today's peak: 49,135
Counter Strike is not on the top 3 of most played games on Steam TODAY.
/discussion. :-)
And for your information, Steam is global, not limited to EU or US.
because the east euros are still sleeping. wait when they wake up.. then you see a lot of players
You missed the point. It is tomorrow for east Europe, the statistics have been made for today (yesterday now) and Counter Strike is not on the top 3. This shouldn't be so hard to grasp.

The early days of learning IRC, finding scrims, swapping idlers with other teams. And then steam came out and it was the greatest thing ever. I remember the butterflies i used to get before cevo/cal/esea matches... so much excitement.
Was anyone else huge into cs movies? Hard clan : Die hard? Electronic Warfare? The underground series? Complexity's Armageddon and Redemption? I can't seem to get tired of them.
i used to love watching CS movies. my favourite team was NoA and my fave player was Ola "elemeNt" Moum. People say SC2 is ESPORTS now... if you really want esports, CS 1.6 is the original and the best "esport". Such an amazing game. But like any esport game, its so much more interesting to watch if you play it yourself and understand the incredible skill and the various tactics that go on in a pro game.

it still says "22,043 53,825 Counter-Strike" for me
anyway. you still didnt understand a single one of my posts. it's alright. /discussion
and you also have to consider all the people who play outside of steam. there are many, unlike for dota2 and tf2

just started playing cs 1.6 again about six months ago usally take about 1-5 mins to find a 5v5, easiest game to find 4 friends to play with, since most have played it and still enjoy it. Going to miss the competetive scene, Joe Miller casting good times. CS:GO just isnt the same.
