With the RMAH up prices have skyrocketed due to the lack of high level items available on GAH.
I have always crafted profitably in most end games I play to make farming gear/gold easier.
I have not started yet on this game. I have heard so many crafting is gambling crafting is crap, but almost every stream I see people crafting 6 Property Armor Items they are rolling in money.
Being stuck as a Monk on A2 Inferno and my upgrades being huge gold jumps from one to the next I find myself with the urge to buy a 6 property plan and just poor myself into it trying to "get rich quick" lol.
Farming gets boring so I want to know if you have profited from 6 property crafting or not. Please keep your opinions out of it, strictly from a mathematical standpoint only. Whether you bought the plan or found it and what armor piece it is. What your sample size estimate is helps also.

I sold a 6 property glove pattern today for 17mil.
While gloves is a pretty good craft, as almost any roll with primary attribute+IAS can net you a bit of money: I am unwilling to take the risk. |

Gloves, 15 goes, lost.
I was hoping to try it while it was relatively 'early', but it hasn't really worked out for me. My sample size was a bit small, but I'm rather wary about trying further since I couldn't really do anything with the ones that didn't roll attack speed + other beneficial stats, and the crafted 6 stat items are ilevel 62 and not 63, so I believe that they'll be less in demand as time goes on because they can't have as high/good stats as the ones that drop. |

| Net gain. I have 3 shoulders helm gloves. Gloves highest sell potential for sure because people go nuts for ias. Shoulders i made a killing. Not enough research into helms yet however. |

| After profiting from a 6 prop belt recipe over a couple of days (2.5 mil to 8.7 mil), I decided to do an experiment today. Spent 8 mil on crafting around 60 belts or so. So far pricing everything out, there is DEFINITE profit. Maybe I'll tabulate out the results (after the 15% AH fee) later on. And this is belt we are talkign about, one of the less desirable 6 prop armor piece. If we are talking about weapons, they are straight up shit but I can't see how people are losing out on making 6 prop armor. Last edit: 2012-06-15 12:23:32 |

| Crafted about 15 helms. Assuming each helm costs 200k (including mats), I've earned 5mil++ so far, for a profit of 2mil+ |

| these stuff could often carry you to beginning of act3 but thats about it. They are only level 62 and level 63 items could be drop only. These recipe worth a shit ton in Hardcore but in softcore you could just get stuff on AH for same price but cheaper. |

Well the idea is that even with the random rolls, sooner or later you will get a good roll and be able to sell that for way more than you've spent because of the crazy inflated market on such items. I'm sure you'll get something to recoup the losses! I've personally given up on crafting (and everything for now) because I'm one of those suffering from post 1.02c graphics issues that make the game unplayable.Last edit: 2012-06-15 13:38:02 |

I found a 6prop Shoulder pattern, at the time they were selling on the AH for 6mil. Figured over the long run I could make more than 6mil from crafting than selling the recipe so I learned it.
So far I have craft maybe 20-25 Shoulders. I haven't really hit the jackpot on any of them yet. I have had a few half decent ones, but I tend to price stuff to move rather than to maximise my profit and potentially sit on an item for days on end. Best I have had would be ~65 resist all, another random resist, ~80 vit and str, +armor and some other random stats. Sold that for ~2mil (probably underpriced tbh).
Currently I am sittin on maybe 10 sets of shoulders, none of them are particularly great. But they should sell if I price them to go (which I do).
Overall I would say I am making a marginal gain/breaking even taking into consideration the cost of mats. But that is primarily due to my mentality of just unloading the stuff so I can turn around craft more and keep gambling away. |

I personally tried crafting a couple times when I found my first 6prop armor, but I realized it doesn't fit my "style". I'm sort of the type that likes to buy and then immediately resell on the AH. I find that if I go on a crafting spree I get too lazy to check each and every piece's price worth, plus it's a waste of auction slots to put them all up when I could easily be making money buying and reselling (using those slots).
I'm assuming people either go completely crafting or completely buy/sell, because of the 10 auction limit. |

Gloves, although the prices have dropped insanely in the past few weeks, you can still get ~10% more money at least than the mats cost at AH. Made probably closer to 50m profit just by keeping Ah full of gloves, and thats after counting all the mats/using all salvaged stuff instead of selling them. No need to even get Primary stat+crit+crit dmg+as+ar one, just 3 of them and it's already +2m, 2 high affixes also sell most of the time. Gloves with tank stats aren't as profitable but I've sold a few for 1.5-2.5m.
Selling gloves recipes for less than 20m should be a crime... Belts, bracers and shoulders _might_ be profitable also, others, wouldn't give them even a chance. |
