My Zonealarm gave me a little popup saying that a packet or something from a certain IP (I can't find any of this info in the ZA logs) was blocked, I started messing around with the settings a little and got another popup after putting my security sliders to the Max settings.
I know this is very vague information but hopefully someone can give me some idea on what's going on? I'm really not a networking wizard at all, I'm hoping someone's just pinging me but that still leaves the question as to why?
I'm having a ZA done right now, 1 infection has been found so far, filename being "cnet2_GOMPLAYERENSETUP_EXE.exe" with the virus name being "not-a-virus:HEUR:WebToolbar.Win32.Installcore.gen"
I'm guessing it's nothing to worry about since it seems to be related to GOM player?, the whole "Not-a-virus" thing has a strangely unnerving effect on me. |

The GOM alert looks like a false possitive, so nothing to worry about. As for the blocked packet, most firewalls default to not allowing any traffic in unless it is a response to an outgoing message. I.e I can;t say hello to you unless you say hello to me first.
How many times does ZA pop up? Are we talking just the once that it's happened or is it a regular thing? |

This is the first time I've seen a message like this, I've been using for ZA for a good few months.
Also, this is probably a bit of paranoia speaking, but I went to Dreamhack Winter 2011 last year, and when I arrived there and hooked my PC up, I found that my Hotmail, Steam and Origin Passwords had been changed during the trip, I managed to recover them all though, I did some cleaning and re-installing at that point and found a strange e-mail address in my list of emergency adresses on my hotmail account (Adresses you can tell hotmail to send a password reset link to incase something happens to your main account), I promptly took it out of said list, I just now rechecked and I don't see anything there.
Anyway, point I'm getting at is is that Dreamhack is getting underway as I type this, the timing for wierd messages and possibly malicious activity seems like a some sorta crazy coincidence.Last edit: 2012-06-16 20:46:13 |

Probably nothing to worry about then, but was good to do a scan just in case |

Ahh i see, did you leave your PC at any point last time you went? It would be fairly easy for someone to load something on your PC or change your password/ gereally do things to our PC if your not by it for a couple of mins, especially if you get your browser etc to remember your passwords or (god forbid) you keep your passwords in an excel spreadsheet on your desktop.... (yes people do that)
If ZA can then you want it to check your registry for bad or editted entries (i can't remember if it does, haven't used it for a few years). If you are still worried then try this: http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/download
The free one is good enough, just make sure you update it and back-up your reg before you do anything with it i've not had any problems but better to be safe then sorry |

I never left it on, it was loaded into a carriage along with all the other PC's (It was this big organized bus-trip type of deal) and when I got to DH and hooked it up my passwords were changed.
Whenever people went to sleep the other people from the group would keep an eye out for each other's pc's (The whole group never slept all at once), my pc login is ofc, also password protected.
And no, my passwords are stored only in my head |
