I go into a videogame (Skyrim, LoL, and Diablo 3 are what I've tried thus far) and maybe 10~ minutes into the game my video crashes. I get a black screen or a screen with stripes (different colors based on game, for LoL it's amber with lighter amber stripes and grey with less grey stripes for Skyrim) I CAN still hear sound from things like music and twitch.tv streams. But I can't see anything. I have to restart my computer to get the screen off but after another 10 minutes of gaming it happens again. Please help )':

I gave these things to HIS support and they haven't been able to help. I'll also post the chat logs to these.

Me: Oh another thing, this ONLY happens in videogames not when I'm browsing reddit or facebook. Also, it used to not happen in LoL but recently it did start. Giving all the info I can! :/

Then goto Advance -> Setting -> Disable 2D clocks.
Does it fixed?
If yes, then also set "Load on window start up"

Me: I downloaded it and disabled the 2D clocks and it did not fix my problem. It did a black screen with lighter black stripes this time when I was playing LoL.

HIS: What is your driver version?maybe you can try older driver.

Me: 12.4 , the latest one. This did happen on 12.3 and that is why I downloaded 12.4 so maybe try 12.2? And how would I patch backwards? :/

HIS: I think it is newer driver and BIOS compatibility problem.

Would you uninstall your all video card driver, and download the ATI Catalyst: 11.6 (ref. no: 1113) to try?

Also disabled the 2D clocks by iTurbo.

Me: I disable 2d clocks but had trouble downloading the drivers (it said i was missing a component or something) so i used my original driver cd and downloaded that. Im pretty sure it was 11.6 anyway. But I played LoL again for aboit an hour before it cut to a blue screen. The sound stayed for a second but then it cut off. Could this be a problem with my hardware?

HIS: Please try Catalyst 12.4a which is the AMD driver fix on the game issue.

Me: This did not work.

Me: When it blackscreened this time around though the sound cut out and it made a weird buzzing noise.

Sounds like a defective card. This happened to my 6870 and I RMA'd it and got sent a used card (by Sapphire) but it didn't give me crashes.

I couldn't find any other solution. (and it worked fine for almost a month! before I sent it back)

Mine worked fine for 6 months :l I hope it's not defective. I'll keep looking around for a little while longer. Thank you though! :D

You can try weird things like raising the card's voltage just a tiny bit or underclocking it to see if you got a bad piece of silicon and it just can't run at stock anymore? Did you reseat it? Try a different PCI slot?

I only have one PCI slot and I don't know how to raise voltage, and dosen't underclocking it void warranty? D:

Technically changing clocks or voltages voids the warranty but I've sent back both my GPU (which I overclocked) and my CPU once (which I overclocked) and neither were turned down.

I don't know exactly what card you have but it would help.

There's no logical reason for underclocking (as against overclocking or overvolting) to void warranty, as it's safer than running at stock. Warranties are not necessarily logical though, so feel free to read the small print.

Have you monitored temps while the crashes occur? Run that iTurbo program they had you install, it probably has monitoring features. Put LoL in windowed mode with the temps visible so you can watch temps until it crashes.
