Okay so I have recently grown tired of xsplit, not just because of the audio but the amount of strain it puts on your cpu. Im here to show you how to use a new free alternative to xsplit called FFsplit. FFsplit is basically a free simplified version of xsplit (comparable to FMLE but no as complicated to use.
1. Go here and download FFsplit.
2. Run the ffsplit file and choose where you want to extract the file. If you have not already done so, download and install .net Framework 4.0
--- IMPORTANT!!! --- Make sure that UAC is DISABLED before running FFsplit. All of FFsplit files require ADMIN Access and will not run correctly and give you errors while attempting to stream!
3. Run FFsplit
4. Under the Video Source drop down menu, Select FFsplit Overlay (Most stable imho but you may also use DxTory or other external apps)
5. Under the Audio Source drop down menu, Select your preffered audio source. I recommend choosing Default Playback Device but if you have other programs that you use for audio streaming, you are more than welcomed to use them.
6. Under the Microphone Source drop Down Menu, Select your preffered mic source. If you dont have a mic, then skip this step.
7. Set your Encoder settings the way that you would have under other streaming programs.
--- IMPORTANT!!! --- Make Sure that your connection AND pc can handle the encoder settings that you select! I will not put in a default set of encoder settings simply because not everyone uses the same settings.
8. At the bottom of the UI for FFsplit you should see the words "Stream:" with a check box beside it. Check the box and input your rmtp server and stream key. (you can get your stream key by going here and clicking "Show Key"
Once you get your key, add that to the end of your RMTP server link. The " rtmp://live.justin.tv/app/ " link is your RMTP server if you are using Twitch. There are other more area specific servers that you can use but for this tutorial I am only using this server as it is universal (kinda). Once you add your key to the server it will look like this:
+ Show Spoiler +rtmp://live.justin.tv/app/[Your Key Here]
Once the key is added, it will look like this
rtmp://live.justin.tv/app/live_98h23yg012tfvuuh0y3u98uj9rhrh
9. Start Streaming and enjoy good free audio quality!!
It is recommended that you have at least a quad core i5/phenom II (generation doesn't matter as long as you know its limits). I use a Phenom II x6 1045T Oc'd to 3.4 GHz and it does just fine with 720p @45fps. You should be able to get away with a Core 2 Quad as long as it is above 3.2 GHz, otherwise you will suffer an fps loss ingame.
If you enjoy the program, dont be afraid to thank the people who created it. You can go here and send them questions and comments! You can also ask questions/thank them on twitter @FFsplit !Last edit: 2012-09-21 00:26:19 |

| it makes an annoying static noise whenever i start streaming. Also, it says my stream is offline. I was really hoping this would work because xsplit cause my computer to crash. |

I think the problem is because you don't have stereo mix set as the default recording device on your computer. I had that problem at first too. Now i'm having the problem of getting a decent looking picture, as it's stuttering D: |

You actually don't need VHScrCap as the FFSplit Overlay is screen capture program that is built into FFSplit. However, I don't think the Overlay method allows you to change your encoding resolution, so you're streaming at whatever your native resolution is.
If the filter will not install then try going to the FFSplit folder and running the InstallFilter.bat as an admin. |

| If iv got a nice working FMLE set up are there any advantages of switching to FFSplit or is ease of use the main thing about it. |

negative. It will capture your desktop, but not stream the size of your desktop unless your settings have it to stream your native resolution. |

| Question : Does this software allow you to stream at 1080p and 60fps, and does it allow me to change the bitrate? |

| Of all the things that can be complained about with xsplit, you choose CPU usage? I stream @720p60 flawlessly without coming close to CPU limits (with a moderately overclocked first gen i7) while playing 30+ minute games with an average FPS in triple digits, perhaps you mean the performance hit? They are completely different factors. |

| This MultiCam Studio and VHScreenCapture reminds me of the times before XSplit. Isn't that extremely old (2years), outdated technology in comparison to XSplit? Also can you combine it with DXTory? Last edit: 2012-06-17 17:51:40 |

You can do 1080p in FFSplit. |
