I've noticed recently a lot of streams (major examples: Dreamhack today, Destiny's stream) have been serving at 60 frames per second as opposed to the typical 30 frames.
The most noticeable effect is MUCH clearer / smoother motion when scrolling around the screen. Personally I love this change and would recommend anyone out there (with the bandwidth available) give it a go for your streams.
I'm wondering though, once you've gotten used to it what's everyone's thoughts on the new trend? Think it will become more and more common in streaming (both personal and tournaments)? |

I do not see the point of this question.
60 frames is indeed greater than 30.
Everyone should do it if their system and internet allows for it.

| It's really cool to see how far streaming has come in the last 5 years. |

| It's the next step for top tournaments to up there quality, it was always inevitable. And streamers as well, in a few years it will be pretty unacceptable to have a 30 fps stream.. Last edit: 2012-06-17 19:56:00 |

The only reason people streamed at 30 FPS in the first place is because it's easier on the computer and on bandwidth.
Other than that, there's no reason not to stream at 60 FPS if you can. |

I ask because there has been lots of criticisms surrounding the move from 24fps to 60fps in TV production (Soap Opera Effect) so I'm wondering what viewers opinions are seeing this in the streaming realm. |

I didn't know that using quality is a new trend? This is kind of a really obvious thread, it's not a trend it's upgrading... Since most computers at a reasonable price can hit 60fps rather easy, it only makes sense to upgrade.
So what do I think of the "trend"? Nothing, it's how technology works. |

I wonder how the twitch resolution resizing handles this. If the source stream is 720p 60fps, is the resized 480p 60fps as well? |

I don't see the point of this post. Having a bad day or do you just wait for threads you don't like to bash?
On topic though it does look great, as far as I'm concerned, every event should just copy what DH does, because everything they do seems to be amazing. |

| I'd rather that events focus on better production than moving from 30 to 60 fps (e.g. get dedicated observer and still stream at 30 fps instead of caster obsing @60 fps) |

That thing doesn't applies to streamed video games, hell, the more info that's conveyed to the viewers the better (we cannot deny it, seeing full nails biting action at 60 fps > 24 (30) fps) Also keep in mind that you are playing SC2 at ~60 fps or more, having streams at 60fps is quite natural to what you are accustomed with. |

I hate that shit. I turned it off on my parents TV and they haven't noticed thank god.
Everything looks like the lowest budget piece of shit ever.

I've never seen a 60 fps stream. Does it look like that effect? Interpolation is an absolute horror show. I can't believe people would want it on TVs. |

Nope, as I've said it's quite close to what you are accustomed (assuming you do play sc2 at >= 60fps), pretty much a feast for our eyes |

| It's been popular in the FGC, because most games renders at 60fps (like ssf4) so you don't drop frames to viewers allowing for clearer action. I like 60fps streaming in any games tbh, but it's the kinda games that gains the most of it. |

| As a viewer is it possible to reduce the fps from 60 to 30 or whatever if i want to? I Ask this because my internet isnt the best so i prefer to have a better resolution instead of more frames. |
