| Guess this makes sense. LoL currently is much more attractive to sponsors due to their viewership numbers and the popularity of the game especially to American audiences. Since Valve was late to the party they probably need the hardcore audience to help supplement third party tournaments in the absence of sponsors to keep the competitive scene alive. |

Nothing you can't learn from your own mistakes. Why would I copy someone elses build when I can come up with my own?
That is like the mindset of the people in Bronze League who go 3 depots before rax. |

It is worthy to note that investors don't really like putting money into a game which is still unreleased. |

My builds have never lost me the game.
It's fun to see both the enemy and my own team raging at my builds.
and I quote

He said that after I stole roshan/aegis and landed a triple kill on my own.

It's disappointing to me. I understand that Dota TV means streamers lose out of on ad revenue for everyone watching it in game as opposed to on stream.
I would gladly look at ads on some part of the UI in Dota TV than pay to watch random tournaments. For me they are a passing interest, I don't watch entire tournaments or follow them religiously nor do I watch vods/replays much. Similarly I hate spending my download cap on streams, especially high bit rate, so Dota TV was like a saving grace to me.
Not to mention thus far Dota 2 teams have been incredibly unprofessional about showing up for tournaments. It seems every time I tune in for a Tobi casted tournament one team drops out or doesn't show up or something else happens. |

I hate the local dota community. Besides I'm forced to play with 200ms because there are no local servers. All my friends left for LoL now. I rather have fun on my own making others rage.

The fact that replays might or might not improve your gameplay is also a far fetched hypothesis. So what?
Just play the game as u see fit but keep raging when you lose against my dagon ethereal blade zeus.Last edit: 2012-06-21 01:23:49 |

From what I understand, all forthcoming tournaments will be available for viewing on DOTA TV but will always require a ticket to be viewed and the ticket cost will be split between the tournament organisers and VAVLe. I guess the streamers of tournaments will also have a new income revenue as the tickets will also mean some money for them or at least if the tournament organisers want to pay their casters. |

| Once they fix Dota tv I'll probably pay for some tournaments. As it is I prefer the stream over it. The bad audio in combination with the animation lag just kills it. :/ |

| Seems most people didn't read the announcement. The tournament organizers will get a share of the ticket price. Which, unless it's a share of 5%, will be a lot more profitable that an unique stream viewer. (I guess even 5% would me more profitable than twitch ads for a single viewer). It's a way to increase the revenue/viewer for a tournament. Last edit: 2012-06-21 02:48:41 |

I love their model of you buy shit to give to other people.
THAT is awesome and more stuff like that is good. I would really like a way to get at proper replays - not sure if paying for that is good though but then they must be storing an astronomical amount of replay data.
In game ads is poison, I hate that idea with a passion.
Im not even going to get into an argument though with someone who thinks a noob learning from own mistakes is the same as learning from watching someone who is world class.Last edit: 2012-06-21 02:56:38 |

Watching stream = watching sports on TV Watching ingame = going to the stadium
Kind of. And I actually like every aspect of that. |

You can get normal MM replays ez but private game and tournament replay have always been more protected. Even some SC2 tournaments don't release replays. |

going to a pub and watching with lots of people = stadium ;p
i like your analogy tho in that you miss most of the action when you watch at a stadium.
Yeah and i don't like those sc2 tournaments for that reason (gsl *cough*) - not that i dislike gsl, i love it.
But yeah i have tried to get a few replays after tobi streams to find they are protected which was annoying.Last edit: 2012-06-21 02:58:56 |
