Hey guys. I've taken a really long break off of SC2, and I've been playing way too much League of Legends. (It's incredibly fun) Now that I'm back, I have decided that I really want to get into Masters. It's the one goal I set awhile ago, but it just wasn't realistic. I wasn't really determined enough, I was too scared just to hit Find Match for fear of losing. Now, I feel like I've overcome that, and hitting that button is no worse than just hitting play in League of Legends.
As of right now this is where I stand in terms of MMR:
And this is my goal:
It's a huge gap, and I'm really willing to work hard for it. I've got 8 replays where I've lost to show you guys. I'll try and put spoiler tags under the replay links, just stating where I felt I went wrong, and what I might need to do to get better.
All my TvPs are using the Bomber TvP 1 rax FE. All my TvZs are using the Bomber TvZ build vs Ostoijiy in the Red Bull Battlegrounds.
This is a TvT that I lost. I go for the ThorZain TvT as detailed in Day[9] daily... 365? Not quite sure. I try to go for an early contain. I think I messed this up by just only having 1 tank with me, it was broken very easily, and I over commit to it. My worker count seemed to be lower, and my marine count. I think this was a huge problem in macro, and just generally over extending myself.
I go for a 1rax expand, like Bomber did in his TvZ against Ostoijiy in the Red Bull Battlegrounds. I missed placing my factory by a full minute, which is really bad. He spotted my two engineering bays, but I moved out anyways. I had no vision on the map, I also had no idea that he had even taken his third. I had very few marines for the time that the game ended at as well. Once again a macro problem, and I'm not certain as to when to move out.
I take my third way too late. I can't really deal with the warp prism harass very well, and I did not build turrets to counter it. This is also a problem where I'm just not sure when to move out. I tried attacking when +1 infantry attack finished, but the warp prism harass really kept me behind. Eventually he kills me when I don't have ghosts, or vikings.
I feel like I got really ahead in this game. Eventually me not being able to take a fourth just ruined the game and I lost. Not quite sure what else to say, besides things I've said before.
I took the wrong expansion, and that got shut down really easily. After that I just tried my best to get back into the game, but it wasn't gonna work out for me. Most likely I feel because I didn't drop him at all. If I had I might have had more time to recover from that mistake.
I thought I did pretty well this game. The only bad spot was just getting demolished by the dts, and losing part of my army in the beginning. Not being able to push while my army supply was ahead was a huge blow though.
I feel like I got really ahead in this game. Eventually me not being able to take a fourth just ruined the game and I lost. Not quite sure what else to say, besides things I've said before. I think I'm not taking enough barracks though. My money is definitely floating too high this game.
I try the Bomber TvZ build this game. I take my third much faster than Z. But he continuously attacks my third and shuts it down, and I have no answer to it. I should have made some blue flame hellions, it may have made a big difference. Eventually the attacks are just too much for me.
Please try and be as specific to the match up as possible as well. I know that my Micro and Macro are really lacking. I also get supply blocked way too much. These are just things I have noticed in my play. You don't have to download and watch all of these as it would take over like an hour, but please try to watch as many as you can and help me the best you can. Thanks it would help me a lot!
Edit: Forgot to mention I'm in diamond. Edit: Just some questions. 1. Is a good time to push out at around 10 minutes when I have medivacs, +1 and 100 supply against protoss? Should this be the same sort of thing in all of my matchups? (As long as I'm going for a macro game) 2. In TvZ how do I deal with the massive amount of zerglings that Zerg players tend to throw at me. Sometimes there are just so many zerglings that I can't deal with at all.

You are technically following the strategy guidelines for posting replays. But seriously you should pick one replay or one matchup when asking for advice. Posting 8 replays is going to generate bland unhelpful advice and discussion. There are a lot of good players willing to give detailed advice on a single matchup or build, but if you give those same players 8 games to analyze all you are going to get is generic advice.

Never thought about that, I'll edit this to just say what I want more help on. I'd prefer to keep all the replays there, just in case a zerg player may want to chip in on the TvZ games.

Probably tthe best course of action would just be 2 rax marine scv rush every game every matchup, it works like a charm and most players around your skill level dont even know how the hotkeys to build a worker so its ez peezy! aslo dont forget tto make proxy medivacs to heal heal heal those bios

Hey, I play similar to you also in diamond. I go 1 rax FE in every MU and yes, pushing at 10 minutes is a good time usually. Try to push as your upgrades are finishing for maximum effect. Anyway, I don't feel qualified to critique your replays because I'm really at a similar level to you. A question: Where did you get that plugin for sc2Gears that calculates MMR?
EDIT: Also, the guy on top of me is an idiot.

The MMR plugin was on a thread in SC2 General recently.. I can't seem to find it anymore but here is the direct link to the website. http://skeletor.jimmeh.com/mmr/
EDIT: Can you guys at least try to critique my play? I understand that you don't feel comfortable doing so Aura, but it would help me a lot. Thanks!

Basically, small mistakes that you don't think matter, matter. A lot of masters players say "dude ever masters league players are awful" are because pure mechanics with littttle bits of decision making can win games easy.
For example, your tvt on tal darim, by 10:18, you both had your choice in opening. you lose 1 more unit than he did, and the supply count was 94 to 78. That seems like a pretty big disadvantage to start with for me. As for the tank contain, you should always have a reason to do what you do. It's only 1 tank, did you really think you'd win? What was it suppose to accomplish? it doesn't really stop him from macroing, or taking a base if he really wanted to. You were stranding units for no big gain.
the tvz on daybreak (baneling bust) is kinda just stylistics. you open 3cc, he opens aggro. Either scout better or get more bunkers, or you put yourself at risk.
the tvp on tal, you float 600 min by 7:00. Bad build. Clean it up. take a faster third or build more rax or take your gases faster. do SOMETHING. these things really matter. the end of the game was a result of bad macro and not reacting to colossus well enough. he had like 3 colo and you had 2 vikings. But even so, i felt like his army was just way better and bigger because your macro sense is off (i would have liked to have a few more scvs too).

I just want to comment on this game because its the only one I watched. Your build was not smooth and did not feel practiced. If you look at where you are right before you lost. (10:00 mark)
Your SCV productions was good but your military production was so so. 20 marines is a big risk. No wall off is another risk. While its not easy to wall off on that map you can definitely work on your sim city.
You could have feasibly had a tank or a few maruaders out at that point coupled with sim city you could have held. Also looking at upgrades 1/1 wasn't done yet but you did have stim.
Your position is very similar to a filtersc game I remember. (But the zerg in this game is horrible... I think you actually were up against a better zerg but here is the vod)
My advice is to really refine your build. You could have scouted his build but I am not sure how much it would've helped. (You did have that third orbital call a mule down when you really needed supply or a scan at 8:56... I thought mule was an odd choice but meh)
Terran I think relies a lot of position, timings and sim city. Also vs Zergs I like tanks. Practice a smooth build with a known sim city for each map. If you want good sim cities just copy the pros. Case in point is the match you reference... two tanks out make a world a difference:
You can also see some great sim city. Even though he didn't raise those depots to prevent the lings from getting into his main he could have. Also if you see the angles of attack even on the expo because of his sim city...
When you understand why you reject all other gods, you will understand why I reject yours as well. --Stephen Roberts
Hello, Im 1 league below you, so I can't say much about the games in terms of unit control and such (your mechanics seem better than mine). But when you go single gas in TvP (bomber build), you could spend those minerals on barracks/expo a bit earlier than you do. Over the TvP's I've watched, you consistently have over 300 minerals floating.
I exclusively go Mech in TvT and TvZ so I can't comment on that!
