Mob Affix Combinations

We all know there are many annoying affixes in this game: mortar, vampiric, invulnerable minions, molten, reflect damage, etc, et cetera. But which combinations of affixes are simply flat out broken and probably need to be removed or stopped from occurring in tandem?

As I am only on nightmare with my melee character I will not comment too much on ones for melee, but I do see Vampiric and fire chains combined to be very annoying.

For ranged characters, the one I find most annoying is illusionist + reflect damage. Honestly, the other 2 do not even matter at that point because I just get instagibbed as soon as I cast an AoE skill/spell. However, if one of the other 2 is shielded/fast/teleport/vortex I just want to rage quit and load a new game.

Fast + invulnerable minions on an already fast mob is all kinds of broken. You cannot run fast enough and even teleport struggles to get you away.

Jailer/Vortex/Frozen+ Fire chains + fast/teleport + frozen/arcane/desecrator/molten is also extremely annoying as just when you thought you got away you get locked in place and then one of the other affixes finishes you off. Personal favorite is thinking I got away only to get jailed on top of an exploding molten.

If you have ways to beat specific combos feel free to share.

Since 1.03 I found the waller/arcane enchanted/vortex/desecrator totally broken as a monk since wallers tend to know box you in and frost keeps me locked whilst I'm hit by arcane enchanted and frost.

Are you fighting them in narrow passageways or is this out in a field area? There is not a lot you can do in the narrow passageway situation, but I have found that waller is significantly less effective at properly surrounding you in more open areas.

In general I would have said Fast (if the mob is already fast, if it moves like a slug in general then it's great ), Teleporter and vortex are the most dangerous things for my mage, but nowadays I must admit waller has become a challenge, because they seem to have learned how to place those frigging things.

in the open, but they sometimes become actually intelligent and know that boxing you in and killing you that way is quite effective.

Invulnerable minions aren't so bad if they are slow, but fast (and fast spiders...) are brutal..

Any fast invulnerable minions. Anything else is just challenging and enjoyable imo, but minions that don't die and you can't escape from is just ridiculous.

Worst one I had so far was molten invuln minions. Molten or invuln minions are bad enough as they are as a melee. But when the invulns don't give any LoH AND make life horrid for a melee, it's a good time to just give up.

Teleporter baneling (forgot what that name is) mob for anyone.
Every single barb I have met shit their pants 100% of the time when they see those mobs appear out of nowhere and their character running directly into it...this is on HC. Ive seen so many barbs die to these fuckers on HC its sad. At first they were all like - JUMP IN, SUCK IN ALL THE MOBS, AOE AOE AOE AOE....JUMP IN, SUCK IN-OH JESUS FUCK-BOOOOOM. 404 dead body not found. Rage quit.
And then suddenly in that area where those fuckers spawn they play more safer than DHs. POKE FACE AROUND CORNER, RUN AWAY IMMEDIATELY, RUN FOWARD, SEE GREEN MOB, CHARGE + LEAP AWAY AND SPAM AOE STUN IN GENERAL DIRECTION OF GREEN MOB THAT MAY OR MAY NOT BE BANELINGS.

I simply cannot imagine how fucking scary teleporter + horde + fast + extra health on these assholes will be like. Imagine if banelings had blink, had immortal shield, and had stim. And everywhere was creep.


For melee Ill have to say life steal with any aoe (molten, firechain, dese, plague...the works) is disgusting.

Range - Invulnerable minion + fast + reflect damage...just no.

Waller + arcane + ice in tight spaces are just so fucking meta too sometimes....I swear they are trying to combo rape me - tight spaces = tight knot of ice balls and arcane orb spawn, waller = 100% will lock you in.

Horde with any spell casting is just so ridiculous its actually rather funny, especially on mobs who already have spells they cast - fire lobber in A2/Fat fire spell caster in A3..

Horder/illusion on those A2 huge dragon flies that spam those tiny deadly green nukes are stupid too...its like a huge wall of impending doom coming from all directions as they spam and spam and spam...

Ridiculous ones - teleport on phase beasts - yeah sure..
Fast on A2 leapers/A1 zergling like mob (both are really fast mobs already)
Shielding/Invulnerable minions on A4 Fallen Angels - its like they arent fucking hard enough to kill already.

I know! when I ran into them last night I decided it was a good time to log off and go to sleep haha.

For melee (I'm a barb), the worst is shielding with some sort of ground aoe. You already have to juke all the stuff to get in and do some damage, and then when they shield during your only opportunity.. well that's a huge slap in the face.

but that horde and triple cast was literally impossible. It spawned on those snake dudes that teleport right on top of you so you couldn't even effectively kite it haha.

Teleporting, Fast, Extra Health, Reflect Damage phase beasts... its double teleport since they have innate teleport, you can never run from them, even with tactical advantage, they hit like a truck, and reflect+extra health = lmao.

And the tower they spawn in is absolutely ridiculous for them - You know how range characters can shoot from the top of the spiral stairs all the way down across the map and kill mobs? Phase beasts can teleport the same distance...added to the fact there arent many places to run...X_X

I have more trouble with some of the innate traits of the mob types. Leapers, invisible snakes that don't get snared when you're trying to kite, burrowing lizards that aren't even targetable half the time, soul rippers, phase beasts are all fun on their own. Vortex+fire chains is a bitch if you don't have room to kite. Molten+Invulnerable Minions is stupid in enclosed spaces too.

Invulnerable minions + basically anything.

Invuln + Molten is just retarded.. I play ranged, but god, how the heck am I supposed to hit the main dude without steeping in lava to get around the invulns that eat all my shots?

Invuln + fast / Horde -> same thing, too many things that I cannot hit / control, but hit me.

yeah, invulnerable minions should just be removed. Their leader health drop is laughable, I don't even notice a difference.
