Hi!
Background I'm James "Shovelbum" Ramey. I'm currently a silver-level zerg player on the AM server who is determined to improve my game through streaming. I've been playing Starcraft 2 off and on since release, but only within the last 3 seasons have I become hopelessly addicted to the pain and suffering that is competitive play. I quickly began ravenously consuming all things SC2, including pro-streams, shows and replay analysis, and any tournaments I could squeeze in between classes, homework and a job. But the one thing I found lacking was the perspective of a player I could relate to; Day9 may be incredibly charming and intelligent, and the things he say may well be true, but if I can't relate to what he's explaining or understand it at a basic level, then I can't apply it. What I really was craving was a show that explained what was happening in a player's head while they were playing. Enter: my stream!
About my stream I stream every game I play on the ladder with very few exceptions, and I try to stream at least one hour a day. In each stream session I play ladder games, in which I (try to) commentate on my thought process in-game. This is something that I feel is lacking from other streams, and the few streams that do this greatly help me to learn. My stream is entirely dedicated to my learning and improving, and hopefully you learn and improve along with me. Each game is followed by an analysis of the replay, no matter the outcome. I try to pick out what may have lead to the outcome (from my perspective, though I also find myself looking at the other player's play as well from time to time), and how I could have improved on it.
Tentative Schedule I am a senior at Portland State University, currently wrapping up my Bachelor's of Science in Anthropology (archaeology). Normally, all of my evenings are free, however this summer I am working an assignment in which I am out in the field for 10-12 hours a day doing excavation and other archaeology-like things. My schedule is currently in flux, so it is subject to change. You can expect at least three shows a week. Right now, this is my tentative schedule:
Sunday 6:00 PM-10:00 PM PDT Monday 6:00 PM - 10:00 PM EDT Wednesday 7:00 PM - 10:00 PM DT
If you want to see a sample of my content, twitch has backlogs of my stream in entirety. This last stream was relatively short (I think only an hour and a half or so), and it had some interesting games.
TL;DR? I'm a silver level zerg who is hoping to improve through the streaming of my ladder matches, accompanied by in-depth commentary and analysis.
